This Saturday is the battle of this year’s MLS expansion* teams! I kid, I joke. It’s actually the battle of the current vs former Whitecaps! FC Cincinnati (aka The Former Whitecaps) boasts the following familiar faces on their roster: Kekuta Manneh, Darren Mattocks, Kendall Waston and Spencer Richey. They started the year helmed by former WFC2 coach Alan Koch, but that unfortunately didn’t last. I believe FCC also held Kei Kamara’s rights for a hot minute during expansion draft madness.
Things haven’t gone well for FCC this year. How unwell have things gone? Well, they’re currently worse off than the Whitecaps. Think about how you’re feeling about the Whitecaps season so far, then add two more dashes of salt. That’s what it feels like to be at the bottom of the league table.
With the departure of Lucas Venuto today, the Whitecaps have one less option up front. Will the hemorrhagic Cincinnati defense yield up some goals to our snake-bitten attack? I sure hope so. My blood pressure is high enough without adding even more sodium.
