Timed Chants & Songs

Boundary Road (YouTube)
Based on John Denver’s classic Country Roads, this song is a reminder of the Southsiders’ origins at Swangard Stadium on Boundary Road. Usually sung with scarves held high at the start of each half:
Boundary Road, take me home,
To the place where I belong.

Vancouver, pretty mama,
Take me home, Boundary road.

On opposing goal kicks. (YouTube)
During build up to kick, with arms raised: Whoooaaaaaaaaa.
When the keeper kicks the ball: YOU FAT BASTARD!

On David Ousted goal kicks.
During buildup to kick: ssssssssssssss
When David kicks the ball: BOOOOOM…STED!

When the opposition misses high or wide.
To the tune of Go West by The Pet Shop Boys
How high/wide do you want the net? (Repeat x4)
Raise arms either above your head or out to the side on “high/wide”.

When the opposition scores on us.
To the tune of Que Sera, Sera by Doris Day. The song was inspired by ex-Caps coach Teitur Thordarson. When asked about the condition of the Swangard pitch following an American football game, he responded “it’s not like f’n Wembley, is it?”
Que sera, sera,
Whatever will be, will be,
It’s not bloody Wembley,
Que sera, sera.

When the Whitecaps score. (YouTube of Original Song)
The underlying riff to Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes

Eight-Six (YouTube)
A reminder of our roots as a Vancouver 86ers supporters group, as well as a nod to Vancouver’s founding in 1886. This song is sung, winning, losing or tied, to the refrain of The Beatles’ Hey Jude during the 86th minute of play at every game.
Naaaaa, na na, na na na naaaaa,
Na na na naaaaa,

Eight six.

Just Can’t Get Enough (YouTube of similar Celtic chant)
A tweaked version of the Depeche Mode classic.
When I see you, Whitecaps,
I go out of my head,
I just can’t get enough,
I just can’t get enough,
All the things you do to me,
And all the things you said,
I just can’t get enough,
I just can’t get enough
Here in the Southside, I’m falling in love,
And I just can’t seem to get enough of
(while bouncing)
Do do do-do-do-do-do,
Do do do-do-do-do-do.

You’re The One For Me (YouTube)
Whitecaps FC,
You’re the one for me!
Allez allez allez ohhhhh,
Allez allez allez ohhhhh.

Weeeeeeee love you, we love you, we love you,
And where you play,
We follow, we follow, we follow,
‘Cause we support,
The Whitecaps, the Whitecaps, the Whitecaps

(While bouncing)

Southsiders Anthem (YouTube of Original Song)
To the tune of the Stonecutters’ Anthem from The Simpsons
Who makes the (other team) turn white?
Who keeps their sisters warm at night?
We do! We do!
Who berates the referees?
Who does what the hell they please?
We do! We do!
Who drinks all of your fav’rite beer?
Who gets more drunker each year?
We do! We do!
Who makes your goalkeeper cry?
Who thinks divers ought to die?
We do! We do!
Who stands up through thick and thin?
Who cheers the Caps on lose or win?
We do! We do!

The Blue & White Forever (YouTube of The Maple Leaf Forever)
To the tune of the old Canadian unofficial anthem.
Of blue and white, our flag unfurls,
Beneath the mountains capped with snow,
A scent of victory in the air,
O’er the emerald fields below.

In you we keep our hopes and dreams,
For you we stand together.
A team that’s feared throughout the land,
The blue and white forever.

Long may you play, and grace our ground,
Blue skies and stormy weather,
Whitecaps FC, you’ll do us proud,
The blue and white forever.
