I swa somewhere earlier that he was coaching there, so I believe it.

Fullbacks have it rough in this league. Coaches don't seem to know how to use them properly, and defensive organization is pretty mediocre.

Was it Wikipedia? Or someplace which did its research off of Wikipedia?

Max Maund has signed for my hometown PDL Thunder Bay Chill. Probably a lot of folks round here know him as he is a local (GVRD) boy as well as a former Cap.

They could still use a CM - Luca!!

I wouldn't call him terrible. He was still quite young and had potential. But, I don't object to him being let go.

Stevenage (my English team) have just signed him, and I see he played for the 'Caps in 2010. Made 41 appearances and scored 9 goals.

Is there more to him than the stats? What's he like?

Bit of an enigma, maybe. Fast, good touch on the ball, scores with feet and head. But he needs someone to play off, doesn't seem to create many goals on his own. He was at his best when Gbeke (our big striker) was pushing defences around, creating space for Haber. Has struggled mightily since he left, partly due to a bad knee injury.

I really like him, and think given the right conditions he could do well.

Probably important to note he was a centre back until Teitur Thordarsson got ahold of him in 2009ish?, which may explain some short comings in his attacking game. He has the instincts of a finisher, which is half the battle. I assume Gary Smith noticed this at some point in their mutual time in North America.

Wow, what a mind job, you're a striker, no you're a back, no you're a striker… again. Hell just go to Europe and see what happens.

With the right mentorship and development Haber can be world class, but he is still very very RAW and times a tickin for him for sure.

I am not trying to shit on Haber... but world class potential? Please elaborate!

Khalfan was one foot from being a Caps regular. One foot over the bar, one foot passed the post.... I wish his journey with the Caps could have turned out better. He was horrible in possession. He needed more time in the NASL.

Looks like he’ll be wearing number five when Phoenix host Sydney FC on 6 October 2012. I was always partial to Wellington Phoenix FC, nice colours, crest, I loved the fact that they were the only New Zealand squad in the A-League, but this cinches it for me.

  • They also can't participate in the AFC champions league because new Zealand is in Oceania confed not Asia.

I will be at that game in Wellington. They are the club liked by all in the A-league

There really should be a way for them to qualify for one of NZ's two OFC Champions League spots. WP shouldn't be punished for wanting to play at a higher level than the NZ Football Championship.

  • I agree. They just walk all over the teams in the O-League, but at least we in CWC the Aussie league would get more promotion.

Phil Davies made his debut with the Richmond Kickers on the weekend: started, played the first half, and picked up a yellow card. So he's back on the field at last.

Anyone know if Callum Irving is off on trial? Was tweeting early this morning that he's gone until December. Also, has anyone heard or read of what Alex Morfaw is up to?

No, but if you follow him on twitter you'll see he's full of life-affirming aphorisms, quite often about believing in yourself.
