Whitecaps Women Failed Season - Who to Blame?

Now, I know this thread will be surrounded by silence and crickets chirping as I don't think many guys here care about the Womens game.

But,I would like to hear anyone share why they think this season failed.

    Was it Barber? Lenarduzzi?

Can we blame Tommy Soehn? (you know I would love that...).

Honestly Oldfan, I've never talked to you directly, and ive ignore posts that I've disagreed with. Ive always thought that you were an old fan who wasn't too good with modern technology. Now I know you are a troll. You've gone to far.

Blaming any of the 3 guys for the women finishing top 4, in a big league. in a world cup year, where many player are CWMT is silly. No fault to schoen, barber, or Bobby.

I'm wondering if you know a certain "ironsheik" but I'm sure this argument will turn circular fast

    Hello Canuckred

The Soehn remark was a joke..please grab some humour at the door.

I made questions about Barber and Duze as I am wondering if either of them oversee the women's program or signing players.  I don't think a very good squad was assembled this year and I wanted to know who over saw the player selections.

And we have been told this is a "results driven business" by the man at the top.  Thus, I feel we should be holding them to account for their results and asking for answers.  They brought this scrutiny on themselves with that statement.  Guys like you think they shouldn't get the heat.  Unfortunately, the results driven comment from Barber only seemed to apply to Teitur Thordarson.  But I, as a season ticket holder, will take this comment and hold all of their results to account.

You are taking things too far my friend.  Going to the old message board  trick of calling people trolls you don't like is a bit cheap.  Let's stay on topic with this one and discuss the Women's season (which I doubt you care about).

And I actually am good with modern technology:)

    Many Thanks

Grats to the ladies on a great season and running into a VERY GOOD team in the Silverbacks (never understood why they use that name for a women's team???) in the semi's.

    from Urbandictionary.com

Slang term referring to women between 50-65. Generallyused to refer to the stage after "Cougar". So called due tothe grey or silvery hair at this age.

    Still doesn't suit a YOUNG woman's team...

I hardly think making it to the final four is a failure? Why is your cup always so empty? All of your posts are so negative...one has to wonder if you are a happy person?

Failure?  If the Men's team had the same results we would be ecstatic.

Only a sad and childish person would start such an outrageous thread to draw attention to themselves.

The Women Caps program continues to be successful and congrats to Greg Kerfoot for his continuing commitment to the team.

I was about to start a thread asking if OldFan wwas not, in fact, a troll, but the Travelocity Gnome instead.
    image

It would explain his allegience to TT being that gnomes are Skandinavian,

That's all I've got.  Time to mow the lawn

Judging by the time of Old Man's rant, I'd say he had just polished off his second twixer of Potters Dark.

This is the second straight year the lady 'Caps kicked a bunch of ass in the regular season but bowed out without much style in the playoffs. If it were the men, we'd be asking questions.

(Me, I want to irrationally blame Sydney Leroux, even if that's completely impossible.)

    Hello

Thank you for somewhat seeing my point of view.  When you have great regular seasons but don't win in the playoffs I think questions need to be asked.

If the Men's team has back to back seasons at the top of the conference; and didn't make the final; I think some supporters would be calling for some heads.

I think I owe you a bit of an apology Old Fan, I missed the joke. I guess the old rule that one shouldn't post anything 7 beers deep on a Friday night applies to this.

More or less I echo Robchester's sentiment.

While i appreciate you having a good time with the Gnome photo Oldfan, I can't believe this thread even exists.

To address your questions about the talent that was brought in.
This team was gutted in comparison to last year due to the fact a large portion of the team way away on international duty.  Try taking all the Americans off any MLS team and see how they fare.

As for considering it a failure, they finished 2nd place during the regular season then won the conference championship game against a Santa Clarita team that beat them twice this season (including a 5-2 blowout).

They played a Silverbacks team that went 9-1 in the regular season outscoring opponents 25-5.  Seeing as the Whitecaps don't really pay their women's team it is much harder for them to attract American players, of which the talent pool is much deeper for.

While I'll give you "dissapointing" for the way the season ended.  To call it a failure is extremely short sighted

Going back to the troll comment because you don't like my opinions is weak. I have read your posts and you seem better than that.

They didn't have a failed season. They had a fantastic season. They just happened to lose in the semi-final of the championship deciding tournament.

    Honestly man.

Their idea of rotating their home site appears to pay off in terms of attendance, despite the fact that I think holding the games at Swangard would better allow them to attract some of the thousands of new fans of the mens team.

I agree with Canuckred's question about knowing Ironsheik. That guys a piece of work too.
