Whitecaps Jersey Care

I have the official Adidas Formotion Whitecaps jersey, and it's being a huge pain in my ass. Every time I wash it, it gets more wrinkled, and ironing it does nothing.

Does anyone else experience this annoyance, and is there any way to remedy it? My relatively expensive jersey looks like crap now.

Do you air dry it? I have had no problem with mine so far.

    I LOLed so hard.

I've found that washing it on gentle (in cold!) and then air drying on a drying rack (hanging) takes out most of the wrinkles.

Ha!  That is exactly how I take care of mine.  Wash cold, but I add a couple of towels.  Then hang on a rack.  And it is amazing how quickly it dries.  I'm sure I could wear it right out of the washer, and it would be dry by the time I made it to Empire.

Yeah I always hang it to dry, but it makes little difference, it seems. This Formotion fabric is immensely annoying.

Do you have the white or the blue jersey?  I have the blue and haven't had problems with wrinkles (washing in cold and hanging to dry).  Make sure you take it out of the washer right away.   Maybe hang it in the bathroom with a hot shower on to get rid of the wrinkles??  Also, you can iron it; just make sure the iron isn't too hot, and it'd probably be best to iron it inside out.

.....with a damp cloth (iron that is).

Take no chances ironing synthetic fibers.

My iron has a synthetics setting. It works okay and I've never had a problem.

I have the white jersey. I might try steaming it in the shower. I believe heat is what caused the wrinkles, so perhaps heat will help me straighten it out again.

    Here is a tough question.

I have a newly acquired Jarju match worn autographed shirt, which is filthy with grass stains.

It wasn't one of the ones owned by a Southsider, but Ryan brought them all out at the end of the game and this one wasn't being claimed , so I asked if I could have it, and he said yes.

Anyway...I don't want to lose the autograph but would like to wash it...suggestions???

pink solution - make it up and put it in a spray bottle. wet the area you want to clean, spray and then work at it with a white towel.  The stuff is amazing, you can get it at save-on-foods and costco.

If the autograph was done with a sharpie, you are good to wash it as you would in cold water. The Autograph will last for a long time. Use hot water though and it will eventually fade.

Downside is with the organic matter it is likely to mold over time. Gotta clean it a little

I have a signed game worn jersey from the WCQ match between Canada v Mexico.  It has grass stains and mud stains all over it.  Never have tried to wash it would think of.  For what it's worth its in the same condition as the day I got it.  No mold or anything.

    Agreed.  Grass stains add character!

^think beer stains are more fitting for the southside. I got a nice couple from seattle when Hassli scored his wonder-goal.

Mine gets washed in the cold cycle and hung to dry. No wrinkles, ever.

I think I need to just stop using my washing machine, the "delicate" and "cold" options are useless. Things still come out steaming hot.

Warm-ish water or even cool water, hand wash it, and lay flat or hang to dry. I've washed mine about 8 or 9 times now and no problem at all!

Eight or nine times? Holy Christ.

I guess you were it to more than the game though I spose.

I try and just wear it at the match and have a change prior and after if I'm coming from work etc.

I wear it to EVERY game, the away games I wear it, and occasionally around town as well, but I only wash it once every 2-3 times i wear it, unless it's a very hot day at Empire and I sweat alot...

I'd be willing to sacrifice my white jersey #86, by not washing it anymore, until the end of the season, for just ONE MORE WIN.

I've been told that just washing in cold water is fine (I have yet to try it, however).

On a side note, how did you get a game worn jersey Tractor_boy?
