haha, I saw Kev on the telly last night and it looked like he had a golf shirt on, I remember thinking to myself 'why is he wearing that?' I guess his shirt was used

Pretty cool story. That is something that the club should be putting on thier website...unless they want to avoid the pie-in-the-face to the unfortunate kit-man. YIKES.

I believe they were trying to keep it quiet, but I have sources!
    ;)

I went for the positive angle of the story, but really curious as to how the hell that happened.

Someone fucked up, either airline or Caps.

  • Wow, I was thinking that the "BELL" on Cannon's jersey looked off at the time. Too funny.

Did the person who donated the Brovsky jersey want it back?   Oh we fans can be so mean spirited sometimes, like now for instance   :)

Okay I'm over it now. That dirty crack (how's your mother?) got me over it. Hopefully the next time Jeb plays for the first team he'll actually be ready for it and isn't he a left mid anyway? Who the hell's bright idea was it to put him at RB? Never mind, I said I was over it   :)

Interesting.  I couldn't figure out when watching Vagenas why his jersery did not have "since 1974" on the back.  There where a few closeups when they were wiggling his loose tooth.  Noticed it had blood all over it too.  Wonder if they gave it back?

I thought Cannon's jersey looked weird... Didn't know this was the story behind it though!

Awesome!  I tried to get a screen capture but it wasn't working.

Do you mind if I use that pic and stick it in the blog article?

So they had a stock of numbers and letters to iron on? Or did someone actually have a Vagenas shirt already?

It's standard lettering and numbering throughout MLS, so San Jose did all that for them.

Where they got the blank shirts from I don't know.

  • Heh!  The same thing happened to me when I was in Korea in 2003: they asked the fans to throw them their replica kit for the players to wear during the match.

  • That's awesome! Hitman said his was used as a blood spare, so not quite so cool, but hopefully the caps still look after him.

That just makes the top all the cooler.

The shirt equivalent of an acting body double?

I would definitely be going to see a band called 'Blood Spare'

I only fly once or twice a year, and I know how often my luggage doesn't arrive, so my money is on the airline on this one.

Unless the players carry around their own kits (which I doubt) then all or none of the kits would have shown/not shown if it was an airline issue. My money is on simply the equipment guys didn't pack up all the kits.

The only other scenario IMHO is theft, I have had things taken from my luggage at a couple different destinations around North America.

No way to fit all the kits in one bag.  Probably one bag got lost on the way.

Good thing it wasn't their boots!  They would be looking for Jimmy Grimble's magic boots!

Firmly holding onto my wooden desk and typing with one hand. Maybe its just fluke, but I been on hundreds of flights all over the world, all over Asia, Russian, Europe, Africa, North America, South America - islands, Iceland, Malta, Cyprus, Tahiti, Philippines, Sri Lanka and I don't know how many other places. I can tell you I have been to New Zealand, Australia or China, but not once have I had luggage problems.

Having bragged about that of course .....
    sigh

Then you have had a lucky streak. I fly to Gagetown every summer with the Army, and they lose my luggage more years than they don't. I doubt I've ever been on a course where at least one guy isn't waiting for his luggage on Monday morning.

Lefty - better hang onto your wooden desk the next time you book a flight, or just pack carry on!

hey rod, just got home i was actually wearing the blue away not the white so mine was no use to them.
great trip thanks for tractor boys organization skills. hour and twenty mins from san fran to san jose on caltrain was further than i thought but no problem.
funniest was having 8 or maybe even 10 stadium security escort 14 of us into ground.
couple of great irish bars and a bar close to caltrain called the " utah" were memorable. no jaywalking in san fran though not even at 1:30 am, managed to get away with a warning so all good.
