Just wondering how long Tifo set-up usually takes.
Just finalizing my plans for Saturday but wondering if people would be interested in playing a little pick-up at Sir John Franklin Elementary before heading to Oscars. My lil bro is underage so we were thinking of buying some stuff from the liquor store and hanging out at the park before it was time to head to the march to the stadium. Any takers?

I think I'm going to try and catch a few of the races over at Hastings Park before the match. First post is at 1:20

Does anyone know if there have been cheap seats available at the box office before the matches? I have a couple friends looking for tickets, and don't like being gouged by Ticketbastard®.

Also, there are scalpers at the corner of Hastings and...whatever that street is by the McDonald's. Apparently they sell under cost. At one game they were selling at $10/ticket.

Come to Oscar's at some point, there's usually tickets going at face value or below.

Well a loss at home hurts, and a comeback loss is worse. These points we're losing are important and I hope we wake up as soon as possible. The more desperate team won today.

That was a hard second half to watch. No connection on the passes, refereeing didnt help and it just didnt look like good soccer. Props to Rochat and Leathers for the MAD hustle and I hope Brovski's ok. He didnt look good after that tackle. Could be nasty...

I'm fast becoming convinced that Rochat is our best player.  He is composed, classy, confident, and he doesn't put a foot wrong.  Excellent today.  I can't wait to have him back on the left.

^ Absolutely. there's a reason he's been man of the match twice now! (if i remember correctly) He's done no wrong in my eyes... Need DeMerit healthy so Rochat can get some nice through balls to Khalfan, Teibert, whoever is playing that wing!

Rochat is a beauty...love watching him with the ball...so smooth. I felt like I watched FCD players dive and roll all over the pith for half the match. The ref was very inconsistent and I've yet to figure out why Hassli got booked.

Love that TT tore Toledo a new ass on the sideline after the Hassli yellow. It's a long season but we really need to start getting points at home.

The MLS highlights don't include the Hassli yellow. Was it that bad?

And it means he's suspended of the next league game.

super week he beats his man and it was a 50-50 battle and the ref calls it and on the play it looks like a back pass from dallas to the keeper who picks it up. not as bad as the foul called on hassli when he did nothing and George john trips on the turf.
  • officiating was atrocious today. hassli gets no love at all from the refs, its like todd bertuzzi all over again.

That second goal looked in slow motion, but even the best have a hard time stopping those.  he was moving to his right and you're told to shoot back across the keeper.  Fast or slow, that ball was going in.  Our group is not implementing Teitur's system.  The transition isn't quick enough, and when it is quick, it's rushed.  Balls over the top to no one, or asking a lot of the forward to chase down.

Yesterday I could share wes Knights frustration on the right. Three or four times he was making good runs, only to see Leathers or Camillo pass it inside trying to go to Hassli themselves instead of sending Knight down the wing and joining the attack in the box themselves.

Dallas was weak, and beatable.  Our midfield, whether it's Dunfield or Brovsky need to step up a bit and get closer to the edge of the 18.  They both hang back so much, that when a bad bounce, or goalie clearance gets out to 18 there's no one running on to it (Scholes-like in his prime).

Other than that, I don't know what else to say. I didn't think the effort was bad.

That was truly unbearable..If we can't even snatch 3 points from Dallas in our our stadium..I fear it's the beginning of total collapse....since we're shite on the road.

Not being able to snatch 3 points from last year's MLS Cup runners-up is the sign of total collapse? Give me Koffie and Teibert back in the lineup, along with either Akloul, Janicki or Demerit so that Rochat can stop playing out of position. If we're still dropping points then, that'll be the sign of impending total collapse.

The abundance of long-balls to a short striker was idiotic.  The service he received was poor.

The card on Hassli was a 'reputation' card, not one that was earned. Hassli's playing well - he just needs officials to judge him on what he does on the day, not what he did in Philadelphia. He's holding up the ball well. Camilo and Chiumiento both need to focus more on playing and less on acting. Is it just me or does Chiumiento "give up" on the hour mark if the Caps haven't scored yet? Wes Knight played a pretty good game, and this Dallas team were certainly beatable, as someone said. Nice game from both Rochat and Boxall. Too many long balls from the middle of the field at the end of the game.

I have to say that other than the phantom card on Hassli, I thought this referee did a good job.

Chiumiento is one of those guys who drifts in and out of games fairly easily.  He produces flashes of brilliance, but in between times he gives the ball away a lot. I think he needs a bit of time to get used to the league, and his teammates, and I think TT needs a bit of time to figure out how to use him most effectively.  A couple of his dives yesterday were cringeworthy.

The guy is obviously not a wing player, doesn't have the pace. So why play him there? Needs to play behind the forwards in the middle , that's where the Caps have a huge gap between the central mid and the forwards.
Have you seen many balls being played in that area, (not including the high ones being pumped up there in hopes that Hassli can haul down)?

    Change formations TT.

This one area where TT may be getting stubborn sticking to that 4-4-2.
  • I agree with Grandstander.  We are better suited for 4-3-3 or a 4-3-1-2 formation.  Get Salgado up front with Hassli and Camilo, pull Chumiento into the attacking midfielder role with Dunfield, Tiebert, and Brovsky behind him, and then Rochat, Boxall, Leather, and De-Merit (when he's fit) at the back.

you guys are absolutely right; it's glaringly obvious that Chiumiento is an attacking midfielder, and not a winger! Did I miss something? Did he not perform well in that position last season or something?
With him working 'the slot' we can link up better ground plays to the strikers - Camilo would especially benefit from this.

With 6 points in 7 games, we are now the worst team in the league. If this keeps up TT will have to take the blame.

There is a HUGE difference between 1) saying Teitur has to change his tactics, and 2) saying he's in over his head in this league.

Of course Teitur is not untouchable, and I assume you made that remark (partly) because of our discussion on Facebook. But the comment you quote above says "If this keeps up", and I'd agree with that.  Saying it after 7 games is a knee-jerk reaction I'd expect from Canucks fans, and not from an informed soccer fan.

I don't think it's unfair. We saw last season in his limited minutes that Davide doesn't have the pace to be on the outside.  Right now he's new to the league and he's tricky.  Defenders even seeing him on film will get burned by his step overs etc., but he'll get found out. This is three or for games now Teitur puts him out wide. Despite the injuries, he has the players required for a 4-3-1-2, 4-4-1-1, 4-2-3-1 with Davide as the attacking midfielder in the center with the freedom to roam left or right wherever the play is going. Right now injuries or not, TT is sticking to the 4-4-2 as if they only train in one formation.

Not jumping to conclusions on Teitur by any means, yet, but "if this keeps up" means the next three or four games, not the next dozen.

7 games is barely a tenth of a Canucks season, and it would be ridiculous to make any judgments based on that. But we are already nearly a quarter through the Whitecaps season.
Even with our injuries, I think we have the right players to get results, and wins at home.

Speaking of the Canucks... I still have hope for them too.
