    Good result and I liked the character they showed. Instead of folding when they got down and weren't getting the calls, they fought back and clawed back the two goals.

    I missed the first half, but the second was pretty impressive. Lot of chances and half chances generated against a very defensive Swedish team. Tancredi's shoulder is magic!

    It's nice to see Tancredi coming through, to take the pressure off Sinclair. I have never really been convinced by her, but I'll be delighted if she proves me wrong and shows she can make a difference in some big games.

    Tanc's been twice the player under Herdman. Pellerud got some use out of her when she was young; Morace had no idea how to get her into the game beyond "go distract the defenders from Sinclair". Tancredi isn't much of an all-rounder but has a lot of value when she's asked to poach goals and play tough in the middle of the park, so Herdman's getting a real Indian summer out of her.

    There's an excellent argument to be made that Tancredi is Canada's female player of the year. You haven't even been able to argue anybody but Sinclair without sounding like a knee-jerk contrarian for about five years.

    If I have this right:

    New Zealand loss (by 4 or less) or draw - Canada plays USA next
    New Zealand win or Cameroon win by 4 or more - Canada plays Brazil-GBR winner or Brazil if Bra-GBR draw.

    And besides confidence boost, Canada's victory today meant nothing as far as standings/matchups go. They would be in the same position save a 6+ goal loss to Sweden.

    Based on my calculations, we play Brazil if

    • New Zealand wins vs Cameroon (this seems to be likely)
    • Cameroon wins vs NZ by 4 goals or more.

    we play the US otherwise.

    New Zealand just scored!!! 2-0 49th Min. As it stands, Canada plays Brazil-GBR winner or Brazil if Bra-GBR draw. And since GBR is up 1-0, so Canada v GB as it stands.

    Currently sitting in the south of France so seeing the France game will be easy, but having trouble finding a location for Canada v. GB - anyone know of a live feed? (I cannot make Doolins...)

    Also, secret message to GB supporters - check your passports! What is that country name on it? Get it right or Team Canada should send Tanc to your house for a spot of bother that will make the Krays look tame.

    CTV may not allow viewing outside of Canada. That's what CBC does anyway
