are we looking at Demerit being in the line-up Wednesday? I'd love to see this line-up

    Leathers - Demerit - Boxall - Rochat

      Chiumiento - Dunfield - Khalfhan

Harris (or Koffie beside Dunfield cause Atiba's tired)

                Camilo - Hassli

^You need Koffie in there. That midfield is much too attacking otherwise. Especially considering the number of goals we are leaking already.

I bet Camilo and Hassli will make a great team up front; give Atiba a rest.

I really hope Chiumiento and DeMerit can play. I never thought our main concern would be defence.

I think the smart money is on Chiumiento coming in as a sub in the 2nd half again.....they won't risk long term injury to arguably their best player and have him play 60-90 minutes.

He'll play 20-30 again, and hopefully help take advantage of a tired/jet legged NE squad late in the game.

good strategy.  still a long season ahead, no need to blow out Chiumiento for a few months.

Cannon's the choice when both are fully fit, but I don't think Teitur is confident Joe is fully recovered yet (I think he only started in Philly due to Jay's injury)

If TT feels Cannon is ready to go, he'll start.....if not, Nolly will keep getting run until Joe's fully ready.

  • Cannon.
  • With my first post l'll say - Cannon
  • Has Hassli earned the right to walk back into that attack? I think we really missed him but can't see who TT could justifiably drop if Atiba and Camillo are fit. I think another Chiumiento cameo with Khalfhan starting. Great to see the attacking options we will have when all are fully fit.

Hassli in for Attiba, absolute no brainer that one

I think putting in Hassli for Attiba is OK; I see no reason that Hassli cannot draw back in.

I agree with the suggested plan for Chiumiento, no need to take the risk now.  Have him come in as a sub in the 60th minute.  He's been super impressive so far.

I agree about Chiumiento. Watching him last year left reason for some concern, most of which has vanished now. No need to rush him back. Better to be a little bit safe than a whole lot sorry.

Hassli is a DP and that almost gives him the right to start, IMO. Besides as it has been mentioned, Attiba and what is left of his ankles could surely use some rest/healing time.

Whoever is healthiest in net please.

Hassli and Camillo (60) & Harris (30). Give Attiba's ankles some rest. Nothing wrong cycling through your forwards. Hopefully we'll have a 2 goal lead and give Teitur some flexibility to rest those that need it. Bring in DC & Khalfan for last 30 or so. 3 games in 10 days is a lot.

I'm more concerned about our CB situation. How is Janicki? Akloul? I would really like to see some experience in one of the CB positions without pulling Rochat in from LB. He is so good out there. Hope to see Mouloud start with either Boxall or Janicki (whoever is healthiest).

Things look even more complicated for TT in the future, we still haven't seen Salinas and he was in good form in pre-season. Not to mention Teibert, Thor and now Omar. I love it!

Hassli as noted gets to draw in with DP money being earned. Have begun to wonder if TT would consider running 3 at the back but think it will take too much away from Rochat and Leathers attacking and their pushing up. But the option is available and makes me drool!
    Leathers ----Demerit---- Rochat
    -----------Koffie----------
    Harris ----- Dunfield ---- Khalf
    --------Debe ---
    -----Camilo ------Hassli

Can imagine Camilo running off Hassli whose laying it off to Debe all day long.
Regardless of formation agree fully with Debe and also Khalf coming on as subs, but perhaps in the 60th. Long season and alot of running on plastic.
Think the MLS and the so-called experts are taking notice. We have a good club, and we're playing attractive football.

Just on the game and a half, I think Hassli does a better job of holding up the ball and bringing the midfield into play. Ihe can also shoot from distance.

I'd take Harris out. All of his flopping tarnished the refs on Saturday. They though every Caps fall was a flop.

Safe to say that Cummiento is not healthy enough to be a starter. I don't what is stopping Kalfan from being a starter.

    Cannon

    Leathers, Dermerit, Boxall, Rochet

    Kalfan, Koffie, Dunfield, Wagner

    Camilo, Hassli

On the front row of section 252.

Talked to Demerit at the screening tonight. He admitted it was 50/50 whether he would play or not. He is going to try and train tomorrow and if he feels good he will be in. Fingers crossed people.

I won't be at this game due to two exams on Thursday and I'm kinda ticked, but I'll try my best to watch it on tv. After going to the first two games, it'd be nice to see the impressive crowd on tv.

I'm hoping Khalfan gets more play time as well as Camilo being in to give Harris a rest. They've been healthy with incredible efforts. I also hope Hasli won't let anything get to him like the Philly game.

I would of really regretted not going to the first two games and I have a feeling I'll regret not going to this one, but have a blast for everyone going!

You can try justin.tv. It's getting harder to watch North American professional sports online as the leagues are really starting to clamp down on pirated broadcasting. That being said, you can still find most games online if you;re persistent.

    Leathers - Boxall - Rochat - Wagner

     Knight - Koffie - Dunfield - Khalfhan

                 Camilo - Hassli

-- Chiumiento + Harris off the bench

-- or Camilo right wing with Harris up front with Hassli??

Ouch. With J & J out it looks like we will have to adjust our backline again. I hope Akloul is ready to go because we need him. That or Harmse. We need someone with some experience to be at CB with Boxall.

I hate to lose Rochat on the left and if Akloul isn't available he will probably play CB with Boxall. I would do a slightly different formation than the 4-4-2 mentioned above. I'd go for a 4-1-3-2 with Koffie hanging back in a more defensive roll. He could provide D coverage when Leathers or Rochat go up field.

Harris needs a break for his legs. I'd play Hassli the whole game but split Camilo and Harris 60/30.  We have 3 games in 9 days so resting some players is a good idea.

Look for Wagner & Leathers on the wings, Rochat & Boxal in the middle.  Strange how it's the back 4 we're struggling with after all the pre-season talk about how we weren't going to score.

I'm surprised, but not at all upset, at our change from defensive powerhouse to ultra-offensive :) All that worry about strikers, and we have 3 or 4 guys that can put the ball in the net, but only one fit CB.

If our way of making up for defensive mistakes is to just score more goals, i'm not going to complain.

Oh I think once everyone's fit our back 4 will be much better than it is now.  It's just funny how it has all played out.

ETA: @drewc - you probably meant compared to last year, which was a snoozefest.  After 2 MLS games I think we're at the 1/2 the total goals scored last year!   Kidding of course, but it sure feels that way

Defense shape will come for this team.
Injuries are a mixed blessing early in a season if you get the points, think we get 3 here.

NE are not going to enjoy a night in the rain at Empire after coming cross country. We come out early I think we score a couple and even with reverting back to Union game lineup in the back think we close the door.... that Union game. Road game at home.
