  • Dane and Darren will unravel Seattle. I just hope Rennie sees it this way. Koffie will fix all that is wrong with Barry. OB will be fine too. He just got caught trying to play two positions at once last night.

This is the first game this season that I have an uneasy feeling. Time to see what kind of cover we really have on the back line.

I guess I'll have to get my nerves out by cheering extra loud to drown out the flounders fans.

  • This is going to a tough one. Because of the new MLS tiebreaker rules, right now we're in 5th place in the league on goals scored, which is low compared to Seattle and LA (tied with us on points). 3 points are crucial for this game, after dropping the game against Dallas. Now it's a race to the playoffs.

This is the first? I can recall of about five other games that gave me an uneasy feeling. LA away being the most prevalent and Dallas being the most recent, but this one tomorrow falls under that category. Still, we shall be supporting them the full 90 and showing up those gloryhunters in the stadium.

I guess I'm forever the optimist. Just look at my "guess the score" predictions

4 hours prior to kickoff and MLS has just now announced that Barry Robson picked up a 1 game suspension for kicking the ball at the lino in the Dallas game. Not undeserving, but fucking hell, they had two days to get their shit together and they announce it NOW??

From what I heard, The Whitecaps knew on Thursday, and the appeal was denied on Friday. Robson deserves the suspension, it is just shit in the circumstances it was announced, and that it happened during a big game with so many starters out.

Then why not announce it on Friday? I agree with you about it being deserved... sort of. I still don't think he kicked it at the ref.

Whether it was intentional or not, a one-game suspension isn't unusual in a case like that.

  • That suspension just sucks. I hope Koffie and Thor can get something going in the middle of the park.

dammit - TSN2? understood the move to the alternate channel in favor of olympics or eastern sport viewership given TSNs mandate - but to be bumped in favor of sportscenter? Obvious cash grab is obvious...

Should be a good match though - hope to find it online or a convince the local pub to show it...

Southsiders bus finally cleared the border.

  • Lineup: Lee-O"Brien-Mitchell-Rochat Koffie-Davidson Richards-Miller-Camillo Mattocks

Great line-up - Rennie's really setting them up to have a go. Should be a great game.

Ok that sucks! Hopefully the bus driver knows how to drive very fast!!!

  • Kick it into Mattocks Speed.

Wow - does this mean if late there is any form of compensation to those taking the bus down (I meant for teh tix et al). Especially with only an hour to kick-off - now way the bus is going to turn that 2.5-3 hr trip in an hour or less.... Why was it held up so long at customs? (just long lines?)

Heard on 1410 that at least some stopped in Bellingham to watch the match...good old homeland securtiy...

Hopefully after kick off at least something starts going our way.

Don't like this formation. Really vulnerable in the middle of the park.

Solid first half but being exposed, giving too much space up on our left.

The tickets were purchased by ticketmaster no? they usually allow a buy back option (yeh not 100%) when one cannot make a match for reasons beyond control (includes weak ones like being sick)

They do it for NHL tickets - one would hope they would honor it for this reason

  • Camillo needs to come off for Tiebert. Offensively, the whole left side of the pitch is free and clear, yet Camillo is stuck sulking in the middle.

  • Miller and Mattocks have looked good together when they get a bit of space. Mattocks really should have buried that through ball from Miller. Decent half.

Would be good to see Tiebert on, but Rennie doesn't do half time subs.

  • We are starting to look a bit like a bomb scare at the back.

  • Watching the match, two observations thus far: One, the Caps defensively are again poor; not buying at all the horrific TSN commentary that they are well-organised, as time and time again they're failing to switch off and pick up the overlap. Additionally, their defending of crosses is atrocious. Can any one of their defenders mark tight? Two, offensively they are again lacking creativity as a team; again too much individual play from Camilo, Miller looks lost again (even accepting he's playing out of position), and Richards' touch is eluding him. It is either individual over-playing of the ball, or hit-and-hope football. Again. Enjoying a more competitive season this year, but very frustrated again today by the quality of the football played by the Caps. Seattle, when they have the ball, are far more technically sound. Rennie needs to open up the shape and get his players supporting the ball more all over the pitch. Montero about to enter the match, this may be trouble for the Caps.

  • That was prophetic

  • Miller's first touch is god-awful.

  • I guess MItchell's career with the caps is now officially done. Brutal (non) marking on the second goal.

Agreed. I'm going to wait a couple more games before making a final judgement, but not looking all that good so far.

I was really upset I couldn't make it to Seattle, now I'm pretty happy about it. Mitchell is just awful and kenny millers free pass is over, he's been awful

Rochat overcompensating in the middle allowed a wide open ball out our left. Good ball in, marking could have been better

That's being generous. Mitchell's marking was awful on that goal.

  • Lots of blame to go around on the second goal. Not just Mitchell.

  • yeah, both and rochat and o'brien were at fault too.
