Arsenal seem to be dying these last couple years under Wenger.
who cares?
Arguably the best transfer market specialist in recent history, Brian Clough, would have sold van Persie in a heartbeat for 24m pounds. Sell your players when they're at their peak value and on the downward slope. RVP will likely never have another season as good as this one.
RVP = United's new Berbatov (Once they sell the old one at a huge loss)
Ah, no worries.I remember the doom and gloom posted here after Fabregas and Nasri left.
Piers Morgan on Twitter is crying :))
I hear he failed his medical, his back is thrown out from carrying Arsenal for a year

Ya, that was tweeted by a certain Italian ManCity player.
I guess this means I'll not be taking Rooney in my Southside Fantasy team team now. 12M vs 13M at Man U makes RVP the swish.
Glad to see RVP finally making the switch.
Arsenal are going to be in a struggle to get a Champions League spot. Good news for the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Magpies.
Not a bad bit of business this off season. Clevely (5), Fletcher (7), and Vidic (5) are like new signings, having played 17 games between them last year.
In: Tom Cleverely (injury) Darren Fletcher (injury) Angelo Henriquez (Universidad de Chile) Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund) Robin van Persie (Arsenal) Nick Powell (Crewe Alexandria) Nemanja Vidic (injury)
Out: Michael Owen (free) Park Ji-Sung (QPR) Paul Pogba (Juventus)
Yep, just like last year without Cesc and Nasri. And the year before that. And the one before that... Joe Allen pushing Liverpool back in to CL spots, while Arsenal only have Cazorla, Giroud and Podolski as new signings.

So will most EPL clubs, if they don't meet the new UEFA Financial Fair Play rules over the next two seasons.
I understand the Fair Play rules have absolutely no teeth and that's why the Manchester Clubs and a few others thumb their noses at them.

I, as a Manchester United supporter, want to see Financial Fair Play implemented, and for it to have teeth. It will be good for the long term health of the game, and United, despite the Ouroboros debt, will still be dealing from a position of strength. FFP is all about spending within their means. United already do that. City, Chelsea, and the other playthings of billionaires won’t be able to sustain their financial losses.

Remains to be seen if there are any teeth. We wont know for sure until one of the big teams fails to meet the test. Will Platini have the balls to exclude them from Champions League? I hope so.
If UEFA excludes the big clubs, all they'll do is start their own league. The Champions League will become the equivalent of the Europa League where everyone will say, "yah you won it but ManCity, PSG, ManU and Barca weren't there".
Can't say I was surprised to see him go. For 24m I was okay with it, then remembered they won't put a single quid back into the team Arsenal's board (and throw Wenger in with them as well) have ZERO desire to challenge for ANYTHING other than 4th place. Fucking dark times to be a Gooner.

If they do play in a non-UEFA league (and so, presumably, non-FIFA approved), would FIFA be able to exclude the individual players from national competitions? That would be something of a trump card for many top-notch players.

If four or six teams got together to form their own CL alternative, I don't see how it would be given anything more than Friendly status. UEFA and FIFA won't recognize it anyway. Basically it would be similar to the pre-season tournaments we see in August.
Ever heard of the NextGen Series? It's supposed to be a U19 version of the Champions League, and it isn't sanctioned by UEFA. A couple of guys from England created it.
UEFA might decide to quash it, as it looks to me more like an U19 European Super League (same clubs every year; no need to re-qualify).
There haven't been any sanctions for clubs that have taken part (e.g. Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham), but if UEFA decide to go to war with NextGen, I'm sure that sanctions would be a threat UEFA could use to get compliance from the clubs.

Did you miss the signings of Cazorla, Giroud and Podolski? I think that cost the team 35m pounds, which is slightly more than the single quid you don't think they'll spend. Cazorla is one of the best wide players in the world right now, and brings amazing freekick and outside shooting to a team that desperately needs both.
I feel your frustration. Last summer was a total gongshow, right until the minute they brought in Arteta. But they spent more last summer than ever before, and have already spent the above on two great players and one known quantity (Podolski).
I heard rumours of David Villa being signed by Arsenal from Barca. Anyone heard more of that?. I've been a wee bit out of the loop lately.

Haven't heard any RUMMORS about that move, would be very surprised really. Perhaps it is Yann M'Vila Arsenal is after.
I heard Van Persie wrote a book after leaving Arsenal. It didn't have a "title"...
Good move by Arsenal. The Kakkerlak wanted to go so let him.
Looks like song is leaving too.
"Kakkerlak" =))

All the top teams have threatened to form their own league for the past 15 years. why do you think the CL has undergone so many changes recently... it's to line the pockets of these teams that are threatening their own league.
It wouldn't be a friendly tournament. It would be the real deal with real prize money to the winners... enough that clubs would care. It WOULD NOT be a pre-season tournament but rather REPLACE the CL in the eyes of Real, Barca, Mancity, ManU and whoever else partakes.

This will be reality much sooner than you think.
If the big teams form their super league, the smaller leagues in the world, including MLS will be hurt by Man U playing Real Madrid 3-4 times a season.
I doubt that ManU or Real care.
They are there to make money... Lots of it.... And buy players... The best ones.
MLS is the last thing on their mind.
