We're all set for Saturday at Fado's Irish Pub.
This is ALL AGES (we'll be on the restaurant side), so if you have young'uns you're fine. They're expecting 40-50 of us so the earlier you're there the better.
Address: 801 1st Avenue, Seattle, WA Time: 9:30 to whenever we decide to leave to C-Link.
They open at 7:30 for EPL matches so if you're awake ...

Thoughts on the route to walk (we can't march remember?) to C-Link? I'm thinking going up to 2nd Avenue would get us around Occidental, and away from the ECS pubs on King. Maybe piltdownman can shed some light on this.
Does someone with a connection to Gorilla FC want to give them the heads up? Unless of course they lurk, then they already know.
Bring on Saturday! Mon the Caps!
?? There aren't any ECS pubs on King that I'm aware of. Fuel and McCoy's are on Washington at 2nd, kitty corner to Occidental Park. You'd probably be fine walking down 1st to King.
Oh, and you probably already know this but the Sounders' march to the match goes from Occidental Park down Occidental Ave. to the stadium and it starts 1 hr. before the match.
Is Fado's for post-match drinks as well? I'm showing up with 8 Caps fans.
Thanks for working out the pre-game Arne. Heather and I are hoping to get there early enough to catch some EPL action - depends on how many times I hit the snooze button Saturday morning.
I'm fairly confident that we can manage to visit Seattle without any negativity, but I do want to remind everyone that Fado is a Supporter group's home pub, and we are guests.
Represent us well by being friendly and courteous to our hosts Gorilla FC. Remember we are adversaries on the pitch, not the streets and pubs.
We'll be in their at 7 watching Liverpool
Sue's right. I had the street wrong. 1st to King it is.
I figured some of you would be there early for the English matches. I won't -be allowed by my wife- so when you get there you can mention you're with the Southsiders and they'll show you the section we'll be seated in. I hear their breakfasts are really good.
so to confirm they are open at like 9:30 - 10 am?

ok great to find something open before 11 am that we can have a pint at...
Hmm, the salmon bagel sounds really good. I'm going to try making something similar at home... fadoirishpub.com/seattle/brunch
Who's going post-game, if anyone?

It depends on the post-match atmosphere for me. If we lose, I'm sure they'll (Seattle supporters) will be gracious hosts and welcome us with open arms. If we win, I'm not sure. It's been so long since we won an away Cascadia match, I can't remember what the vibe was like. The picture in my avatar is from an away win at Starfire Sports Complex when we won the cup and Teitur let us take it home on the bus with us. Nobody really gave a shit back then. Imagine 100 Seattle supporters at Doolins following an early game with them as the winners. Last place I'd want to be. The days of the post-match lovefests with the other supporters is starting to wane. Our fan base is changing and we can't expect everyone to be the cool headed ambassadors of the past. The "FU Dallas" and general shit show in our end last night made this painfully apparent.
In Portland (I know we didn't win, but still) I went to a couple random pubs after the game and all the Timbers' fans that walked by all made a point to stop and say hi. From what I hear about ECS guys, this might not be the case in Seattle, but I can't see them starting fights.
Might also depend more on how rough/chippy the match is versus the final score.
We're excited to check it out and join you guys. there are only 2 of us and it's our first southsiders pre-game! :)
Fado's is the Gorilla FC home. As some ECS douchebag pointed out when they were here, it's two very different groups. GFC are good people who want to be friendly rivals, not hostile numbskulls.
I'm hoping that we can push back against the idiots that want to be hostile by making friends wherever we go. I'm certain that the reaction at Fado's win or lose will be determined by our group's behaviour, not theirs.
I'll second what Brettness said about Gorilla FC. They are a decent bunch of soccer fans, keen to hang out with other like-minded folk. First time I met any of them in person, they gave me cake! The cake was not a lie. It was real.
You took cake? What did they want in return?! Pizza and warm pop pale in comparison to this!
I'd sell MY soul for cake. But only if it's chocolate. I do have SOME standards. :-D
pie>cake
Anyone know the best place to park for Fado's?
There's a garage along 1st either just North or just South of Fado's- I've walked past it but don't remember the exact location. IIRC there's also a lot behind Fado's. Butler Garage on James between 2nd and 1st is a few blocks' walk (but as I mentioned in another post don't try that one if you've got a big SUV 'cause the spaces are small and the turns are a tight squeeze.)
Thank You
I think we will be there bright and early to watch the Arsenal match. Feel free to come over and join us if you're going to be there! We'll have our Southsiders scarves on.
After the match, I went to my hotel room to freshen up and had a short nap. My wife and I showed up at Fado's around 7:00 pm. Not a soul there. Went for a steak at FX McRorys. I guess everyone had moved on to better venues by then. Sorry I missed everyone post match but the hotel bed was calling my name after my 4:00 am start of the day.
