Depending on the numbers we will have to look at size of the vehicle we rent.
Does anyone know the best rental company that does a 12 passenger Econoline type vehicle. We may find that it's better to do 2 x mini-vans if we have 14 people
We will need a consensus when we leave and return
I will be able to get a group rate deal with the Red Lion in Salt Lake.
Possibly my husband (Josh) and I (Rebecca), though it is somewhat time & $ dependent. We both have to work on the Friday & Monday, and wouldn't be able to leave until after 330pm on the Friday. I don't really mind driving through the night though :)
Im interested in this trip
I'd be interested depending on time and $. In all reality probably not but dare to dream
/smack Don't forget me. We've only been talking about it since the schedule was announced.

You're on the list Dan

Realistically I think collectively we'll want to either leave Thursday night or Friday morning and come back Sunday night or Monday morning, and drive right the way through

Fair enough :) I'll leave it out there though in case anyone wants to drive down at a different time. Also, turns out that flights out of Seattle are about $260pp, with varying departure times.
I think im in the same boat as rebecca as I may or may not be able to get the friday and monday off. in any case flying may be an option for me then
Renting a 7 passenger minivan (Dodge Caravan or similar) with Enterprise out of Bellingham, with unlimited mileage is $515USD
Budget charge 20c per mile over 1000miles, and we are looking at about 2100 miles for a round trip to Salt Lake
hotwire chris, pick up at Vancouver airport dodge caravan 29.57 a day unlimited mileage

Likely limited to driving it in Canada

I went to Portland in May, 11.00 a day
The one I rented was unlimited kms, but only in BC, Alta, WA and OR. Driving it outside those zones drove the price up.
I've been talking to Greg about this one, trying to figure out if we could swing it financially. We'd pretty much decided to try to drive down there but now I guess we're not going to be able to because...
I JUST WON TICKETS TO A SOUNDERS AWAY GAME, INCLUDING AIRFARE, HOTEL AND GAME TIX!! They give you a choice of four games and we have to do the LA one on Oct. 28th since Greg and I both have family down there so we can visit.
And I guess I'm well known in the Sounders office 'cause the guy who called was giving me a list of the away games I could choose from: "Portland. Dallas. Vancouver- oh, wait, I guess you probably won't want that one!" LOL!
I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. I'm off to finish jumping around the house and screaming. :D
Nice one Sue! I know it was a contest, but you're one fan who really deserves this.
I'm wondering if finances are an issue, as they are with me, if it's not worth waiting to go the following week for our first playoff road game?
Considering this game, but would be more interested in play-off games as is Scott
What is the deadline for final decission on this El Presidente?
I'd have thought we'd need to start planning early October
Alright time to dig up this thread for those interested in this important away trip.
I'm very interested in going as this will be a big game changer. Anyone want to hit up Dallas for the FUD vs Chivas game the next day? Would be fun to cheer against FU Dallas
I love you're guys passion. Just warning you, salt lake is a nice town but not exactly a great place to party. Was there a few years ago and trying to buy a beer was like pulling teeth. Walked into several bars and they wouldn't serve anyone that wasnt a member of the bar. Finally found a chiles that would serve us. They wouldn't serve pitchers, only served light beer, and we had to drink a glass of water for every beer we drank. They are nice friendly people, but mormans have bizarre drinking rules
It's not about the beer, it's about supporting the team...
I was just kidding around, but still giving you a heads up. I think its a great idea, and I'm sure you will still have a blast.

it's about the Red Bull and Jaegermeister.

Utah has changed their liquor laws considerably in the last few years, not such a big deal anymore. I have a conference in Oakland the following day so might make a trip out of it.
the four block area right around 2 and 3rd streets (200 n 300 on road signage) rock...all very cool restaurant/bar area and lots of fun! People are very friendly in the bar area and even more so at the stadium area. pf changs right there as well! stadium is 15 minutes down the I-15 from d/t but all hway. I'm in! Wyoming girlz r in as well n hav tix already! Red Lion is on 6th so short walk from all things if staying there.
I'm still interested in this trip, but haven't heard anything lately... Bueller... Bueller...

Are we going to rent one larger vehicle, or we use multiple #capsOnTour cars?
I'm planning on driving the red-eye friday. Got room for 1-2 depending on my current passengers' plans
My Mother is undergoing a course of chemo in England, and as I only have 5 days vacation between now and May, I will have to pass
Is anyone still planning on going to RSL?
Going....as well as...who knows maybe staying....just saying
My car-mates and I have re-assessed as if we clinch vs Portland, we'll save the money for playoff games. If we do not clinch vs Portland, we're going to Salt Lake as per the original plan.
pilot...listening to the co-pilots????????? Leave it at that!
This game no longer has any playoff implications, as we will be playing the 4/5 game at LA and RSL will be playing home-and-away with Seattle. Ok, so maybe minor implications with whether RSL finishes 2nd or 3rd.
Last time we played RSL was at home on August 11 and we came away with a 2-1 win. Last time we played RSL away at the Rio Tinto we had a pretty solid game as well.

That was the last game that Joe Cannon started for us, and it's been Brad Knighton holding it down ever since.
I have a good feeling about Saturday. RSL was just in Seattle on Wednesday and didn't seem to get much going, though ended up with a 0-0 draw. They play a CCL game on Tuesday against CS Herediano where they need a win in order to advance, and there are some unknowns regarding their lineup (re: Saborio).
Then, only a couple days rest before our match, while we will be on nearly a week's rest.
I feel we'll have a strong finish, and head in to LA mid-week with some confidence.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of lineup we field for what is essentially a tune-up for the mid-week. Obviously, anyone carrying a knock should sit and heal up. But, considering our poor form of late, should we be playing some starters like Miller, who really need to find their form going into the post-season?
We had a long layoff going into the Portland match. I don't know how useful an extra rest will be to our starting 11 if we run a reserve lineup in Salt Lake.
Almost everyone seems to not care one iota for Voyageurs Cup seeding...oh well Limpact will probably beat the Revs anyway.
