So Platini is up to it again.

Wants to overhaul the Euros so it is hosted by various cities throughout the continent rather than a single country. At least he's consistent in that he sells out each and every time.

Actually not too bad of an idea as it gives the opportunity to countries too small to host the entire tourney to host a group stage match or two. Better than one country hosting the tourney every time coughUSAcough

Increases travel, but gets rid of the horrible hosting privilege, hopefully.

I doubt countries too small to host will have consideration to host single matches.

Do slovenia or malta have stadiums big enough to hold 35-40k? If so, then why not? Europe isn't that big, teams don't have to fly far to get around. Whereas in the Gold Cup games could be in LA Kansas and Miami

Like Malta or Slovenia would ever host a match. It would be the usual suspects every 4 years as UEFA lines their pockets through ticket revenues and fines.

If Qatar can get a world cup, I dont see why smaller countries can't get a match.

Exactly, if the matches sell out what does it matter which country it is. TV revenue will still be what matters

You guys are right - I must have slept through the champs league final in Maltla. Or the europa league final in Slovenia.

    Qatar - one word. Bribes.

Typical that this is suggested for the tournament Scotland has put a bid in to host! It's our only hope of qualifying!

I follow Northern Ireland, and they're lucky to pack 13k into a match during Euro qualifiers...

Yes but in a group match between Holland and Sweden at least 13k will be just the Dutch and Swedish supporters. I'm sure there will be locals and soccer tourists who will want to attend the game as well.
