Forum Bans?

    Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the forum would be a lot better if all the trolls were banned? I for one have stopped coming here regularly because of some of the complete idiots that post here. Am I alone?

    i'm sure its a touchy subject, especially given that opinions of if someone is trolling or not are subjective. having said that, I think you're not alone in feeling that the forum would be better if certain posters had better things to do than post here...

    isn't that the whole idea with forums, to let people speak and say what is one their mind, I personally like to read about everyone's thoughts and ideas, even if I don't agree with them

    That's just it. Many people here incorrectly label people as "trolls" when they pose a differing opinion on something.

    If people break forum rules - they should receive a warning and then be banned.

    Otherwise, not liking someone or their opinion is an immature reason.

    Yep, we should not be banning people based on dislike or personal opinions. However, we are a supporters group, we are here to support. I don't like it if people are constantly negative about the team or towards each other. One reason I don't like talking to the majority of Canucks fans.

    I think argument, debate and compromise are good. I think negativity is rarely good or usefull. Look at all the negative debates on this forum, I would say they never end in anything worthwhile, it just ends up looking like a bunch of "trolls" uselessly bickering.

    I think the moderators are doing a great job already but I would like to see some threads closed when they've run their course. Don't listen to Banimal. He should be banned.

    Maybe a compromise that has worked on other forums is the ability to block posts of other users. Say there is an individual that is keeping to the forum rules but in your opinion keeps on posting crap and is constantly " trolling " , you could block posts from this one user on your computer only.

    since the Big Soccer Board began to ban people a year ago for whatever reason, only 4-5 people now do any postings on the Caps; let people post whatever as long as, in some fashion, it relates to soccer-- the readers are smart enough to pick and choose what to read and comment on-- controls and regulations are NOT needed on an informal comment board like this, no matter how inane they are sometimes... hello Old Fan and CopperSheik!! u loose more than you gain when moderators begin the long-winding world to 'we know best'
