Fantastic work by the TA, full credit to them as they really know how to put on a show. Now if only the Whitecaps FO would be as supportive of the Southsiders.

Like the SS would have anything close to that even with the support of the FO. LOL

It's doubtful, certainly. Too many pricks that only want to criticize from the sidelines.

What's the purpose of a comment like that? Serious question.

What I wonder when I hear this rhetoric is whether the Southsiders have actually actively pursued the topic of a tifo on a grand scale with the front office. Saying the FO "isn't as supportive of the Southsiders " suggests that the topic has been brought up and shot down by the FO, which I'm not sure is the case.

It's like lamenting that someone won't go out with you even though you haven't made any attempt with them whatsoever. I mean, do you expect them to initiate? Do you think the thought's even occurred to them?

If the Southsiders were to bring up this topic with the FO, I would be curious to see if they would be able to see the merit in it. I doubt that they want to look like third wheel in the Cascadian tifo wars (which has been increasingly the case when you look at the hype and massive banner challenges that the Sounders and Timber have had against one another), nor do they want to be the sole front office in Cascadia that doesn't provide this kind of support for its supporters groups.

holtender's comment implies that it's the FO that is stopping the SS from doing a tifo of the magnitude of ECS and TA. My comment implies that it's laughable that the SS would have that kind of display and using the FO as an excuse for not having that kind of display is a cop-out.

In my opinion, the ECS and TA displays are over the top, almost too manufactured and lack taste. If I was the SS, I wouldn't want to imitate that crap.

As a side note - I think the website should be updated to include pictures of the SS (home and away). I think it's the one thing that is really lacking from the site. Or am I having trouble finding it?

I am done with ecs and ta tifo. And agree with bili on his second point. Seems very manufactured, and doesn't include the whole group, just because you can hang a banner, doesn't make you great, I hope we don't try and get permission to hang something from the ropes that hold the pointy ball nets up. Flags and singing are the best tifo you can get.

As someone who actually knows what the case is I can say that it isn't that they aren't supportive ... They are actually very supportive ... It just always turns out that very little actually turns out to be possible.

For example, last year there was a big plan to raise the 'come on Vancouver' banner from the cfl net rigging. At the end they came back that it wasn't possible. Time after time we time are tifo displays according to when they say they can fit it in to their tv and screen windows and for whatever reason a lot of the time they don't end up on there. The biggest problem is the stadium grade is only 14 degrees so without rigging it is extremely hard to see anything we do if it has any detail.

Some supporter groups also get large sums of cash from their front offices to pay for things. We do not ... And I for one am happy for that.

So i wouldnt say that the whitecaps doesn't support us, just that we don't get the support that other groups get. It would be impossible for us to do that banner here because of the lack of rigging, and because of the cost.

All that said the biggest problem we have here is the lack of help. Our last Tifo work days say less than 10 people help out. Portland and Seattle have an order of magnitude more come out and help. Here while we have a to of people within opinion on whatever Tifo we do we have very little people with ideas or willing to actually do any work.

Agreed. There have to be people actually on the Lower Mainland who are willing to make this stuff, otherwise it won't happen. Kudos to everyone who has made a flag.

I don't really have strong opinions on tifo. It's neat to see on TV and if I was able (don't live in Lower Mainland) I'd like to think I'd make the time to help.

I'd probably make the trade off time-wise though to attend some PDL/academy games.
