I like that Carl added the info about scoring in the first 15 minutes. Hopefully it puts more people into their seats for kickoff.

Anyone watching these videos is probably already in their seat for the kickoff, unfortunately.

Another huge game - fair to say a six pointer that might see us start to consider the magic of the play-offs.

Where did they MLS get this fat out of shape ref from? The CSA? Holy whistle happy slow waddle around crap Batman.

As to the game we've had chances but I say switch to a 4-4-2 with Eric and Darren up top and LeToux can have a well deserved rest. Great save by Joe and several desperation clears. Bonjour owes Joe dinner!

No foul on Gersh? PK for sure. Ref is scared to call anything in the box. Or just way to far out of position. The defender didn't touch the ball and completely took Gersh out. No foul. What a joke. If we never see this fat fucker again I'm good with that.

Harsh 2nd yellow, but not entirely undeserved.

Need a new target man now. Hassli or Camilo for Le Toux or Chiumiento.

Great win. Hassli needs to work harder for the 10 minutes he is in there......seriously. Le Toux is a machine. wow. And Dede is pure magic.

It is hard for me to chose between Dede and Joe for MOTM. What an epic game from the whole team with those 2 standing out. We hit one off the woodwork, they hit 2. We are down a man and still get the only goal. Fucking epic man, just epic game.

Bonjour redeemed himself from his early gaff and doesn't owe Joe dinner.

Down a man for 30 minutes and we still find a way to win. Letoux is a cardio machine and just amazes me. Glad Martin didn't sub him off like I wanted. That is why he is coach and I'm not :)

While not a great game by our side we did enough to win and deserve the 3 points.

Last comment from me about the ref. What a joke. Bonjour's handball, the takeout on Koffie, and the bowl over from behind on Letoux after the ball hit the crossbar and ZERO calls? Send that fat fucker back to the beer leagues. He has no place calling a top level MLS game!

I thought MLS had fitness standards for refs. He sure was a long way from the ball at times. But i have to say he got the mattocks dive correct.

Oh by the way, Seattle got their asses handed to them in Montreal, so the Caps are in 3rd place now (albeit having played 1 more game than the barfing electroclowns).

They did lose, which means the 'Caps overtake them in the standings. Seattle is on a bit of a skid right now, 0-3-2 in their last 5 games (that encompasses all but one of their losses for this season).

Vancouver's Wednesday match against New York will be a real test. Red Bulls haven't lost in their last 8 games (they are playing Chicago tomorrow).

I don't think there is any doubt Cannon is man of the match.

I'm not as carried away with our performance as some I suppose. I thought we were totally out played much of the game. Obviously the Rapids had watched the Mattocks film. Rapids could have scored four with a bit of luck, but it was the Caps that had the luck today.

Although most of the first half both sides looked sloppy, the Caps and the game needed the Mattocks sending off to get some focus. A fabulous final 30 minutes.

Actually we've played the same amount of games, so our record is superior at the moment.

Serious lack of mental focus from the Whitecaps for 60 minutes. Colorado has been taking a lot of heat for their road record lately and were racing hard for every ball, competing like demons in both boxes, and the Whitecaps mostly seemed content to let them do it. Then Mattocks got sent off and a "shit is fucked up and bullshit" switch seemed to be flipped; from then on it was all good guys.

It's nice to see that Vancouver can turn the big guns on a pretty good team when they have a mind to, but there was a bit too much laziness before that. Still, on balance we deserved what we got.

Anyone notice how much of a cunt Casey was when he came in? Any time he wasn't going to get the ball he would be trying to at least take one of our boys out.

Colorado's got a few guys like that. Casey, Mullan, Wynne when he's healthy (which is thankfully never), Marshall when he isn't suspended.

Actually LeToux's off the underside of the crossbar was the closest as the ball came pretty much straight down. A quarter of an inch or the opposite spin of the ball and it's in. Freemans was off the inside and the crossbar shot was flush which isn't really that close considering where it came from.

That really flipped some sort of switch with the fans outside the supporters sections.

I have never seen the westside so lively, and when we turned to the eastside for "Eastside on Your Feet," half of them were already standing.

Every header and clearance down the stretch got a huge pop.

I'd agree about the first 45, but I thought we started the the second half much brighter, we began to play Mattocks in more effectively and seemed to be battling harder. First half we seemed really tentative, might be the worst half I've seen Rochat play, especially at left back. But he wasn't alone, I thought only Thorrington and Davidson played even average.

To recover from that the way we did, especially with 10 guys, was really something, even if it took some miracles toward the end.

Who do you take out of the midfield three for Robson? They've all been great the last two matches.

The midfield constantly gets out-possessed, even at home, so I don't think it will be too hard to find a way to fit in Robson. It will be hard to do while the 'caps are on this kind of run (good problem to have), but they are bound to have a mini-slump at some point which would give cover to Rennie to make a change.

I still think the ref got the dive wrong on Darren. To me he clearly lost his balance going around the defender as he was still in pursuit of the ball. Regardless, in the end his sending off seemed to wake us up.

  • An average first half turned into an exciting second half. I know that we've said that certain improvements have come down to Martin Rennie, but the fight we showed when going down to 10 was incredible. Everyone gave it their all, some even put their bodies on the line (Bonjour, Cannon). The way we continued to fight makes us deserved winners.

As was pointed out on the post-game show, it's hard to get calls right when you're constantly 40 yards behind the play. Surprised there aren't fitness standards, or that they're low enough that that guy meets them.

The other thing that seems to have gotten lost in all of this ... did anyone else notice how the ref seemed to be "picking" on Dede at the start of the game. Any time he touched the ball the ref seemed to call him for something. I give Dede full credit for playing through that nonsense. Hassli would have been a puddle of bitchy goo on the pitch by that point.

That's funny, because DeMerit also coughed up a couple that led directly to Colorado chances. I'm not saying Jay wasn't "boss" (which he was 95% of the game) just that when our defence gives up the ball, they do so in spectacular style!

Thought Alan had his usual rock solid game. Nothing stand-out, but reliable as the setting sun. Same with YPL who better score soon or I'm going to lose my mind. So close a couple times. Bonjour has settled down as well ... so much so that I'm dreading the possibility of Bocanegra coming to town.

Watching game on pvr i think the ref did make the correct calls unfortunately. Thor was really bagged when they pulled him out. That run with letoux late in the game really winded him. As far as man of the match, Chui. Davidsons game has been very good last couple of weeks but not flashy so doubt he will ever be recognized.

It's so different watching the game on tv versus live in the corner. I would have said that Colorado had way too much possession in our half during the first 45 but really it was a boring evenly played half.

I did think the offensive tactics were wrong as it seemed we were just lumping it to Darren most of the time. I don't blame Mattocks for being a little cocky if he scores 4 goals in his first 5 games and then the team only plays offence through him. As for the play itself he definitely lost balance but tried to sell the pk by embellishing. Whether it was a yellow, I think the ref didn't like it and let him know. The second foul was a frustrated kid move and Rennie needs to have a talk with him. I think he will settle down a bit.

After the red we totally picked up our game and was really impressed by the level of intensity we brought. If we can play a full 90 like that we I'll be a force come playoff time.
