2013 Summer kickaround session

    It's that time of year (though you wouldn't guess it from the weather) to get out and play some more footy with your fellow Southsiders and friends. I am planning on starting up the Summer kickaround sessions in the next 2-3 weeks. My plan is this (not finalized yet):

    -One night every 2 weeks, at a consistent location (Burnaby Lake East grass fields)
    -Looking at Thursday nights from 730-9 give or take
    -$5 to cover cost of renting fields
    -We'll have nets and can bring cones to play smaller games as well
    -Run this until September or October and then move back indoors at 8-rinks
    -EVERYONE is welcome, no basic skill level required.

    I am just sending this out to gauge people's interest and see if there is a day of the week which works out better for the majority of people before finalizing any details.

    I am there...that game with Edmonton rekindled my love for playing football, I bought some boots earlier this year in anticipation of playing and have only used them once :(.

    Ok. I have inquired about field rentals, and Grass is about a 1/3 the cost of Turf. I have sent in a request for the grass field at Burnaby Lake East (behind the rugby club) and it just needs to get approved by the maintenance people that it will be acceptable for us to use. I will have confirmation by friday. So here is the plan

    Thursday June 28th at 7pm-830ish at Burnaby Lake East grass field.
    $5 to cover field rental costs
    White and black shirts so we can make teams
    If anyone has a net we can use, please bring it. The goal posts will be there, but they lack netting.

    This is all based on weather, so if it rains alot between now and the 28th, we'll be cancelling the session.

    Great turnout, very glad to get the numbers we did given the (light to nil) rain. Looking at scheduling for July 19th. That's the first Thursday after I get back from the epic roadtrip.

    A few people had difficulty with 7pm (myself included) Thoughts on moving it back? 730 or 8?

    Ok. I have inquired about the field for Thursday July 19th and I will get confirmation from Burnaby tomorrow morning. There's been some decent damage from the rain apparently. I will post up here as soon as I know anything.
