Any 'Caps fans in Calgary? Are there any pubs that could be described as Southsider-friendly?
My buddy and I watched the Houston game at the Upper Deck on 6th - the owner was very accommodating, and we'll head back there for the game this weekend. Join us!

Alternatively, submit names of any known alternatives worth checking out. Would be nice to enjoy matches with other supporters...
Oh hello. I don't know of many. I met one when I was in Edmonton but that was it.
ill tell my brother (the guy you met in edmonton) to read this thread more often
I figured that was your brother.
Upper Deck wasn't so accommodating today.... need more suggestions!
While Euro is going on would be a good way to scout out find out what bars are really into soccer.
I dunno. I don't have an idea what would be a good bar to do it at and exactly who we have in Calgary.
Sorry i meant out to vancouver for the game. Im heading out from medicine hat
I wish.

Oh, no. The next game I'll be out for is a Portland away tilt next year.
As there seem to be a few from Calgary here - where are you going for the game tonight? I think the Ship & Anchor is the usual place, but their website says they have live music tonight.
Need a suggestion for myself and a few friends! Thanks!
Staying in. It's cold, I wish there was a place, but Ship and Anchor is downtown and I doubt they'd put it on, ring them up, see what they say.

Go to Beckhams (I know, I know) just north of 16th ave and centre street NW. They show all kinds of sports and have many TV's. I suspect because its Thursday night there will be a lot of NFL and CFL fans there too... Good Luck. Also try the Cat and Fiddle just west of the corner of 4th and 16th Ave NW not far from Beckhams.
Thanks for the suggestions Matt and Footy. I'm calling around - so far the only place guaranteed to show it is Bottlescrew Bills on 10th ave at 1st St.

Did you almost send someone to a bar called Beckhams? Haha.
My goal for 2013 is to have a group for Vancouver Southsiders located in Calgary. (Cowtownsiders?)
That's surprising. It's on TSN for crying out loud.
That place is nice though, I know the owner there.
really cowtownsiders.........sigh......
You've been in full troll mode. It was a guess.
Take it easy, champ. Why don't you stop talking for a while?
Prairiesiders?
But that would have to include Saskatchewan. Ha.

Dude, you're on the other side of the mountains. It's all the same to us until you hit Ontario.
Hello.
So I need people who would be able to attend games at a bar in town to speak up. I have a bar who has been in communication with myself and is totally on board to host us with pleasure in the 2013 season!

If you get a solid crew, be sure to put Brett G and Wendy in touch with the bar.
I was thinking wrongsiders as in the wrong side of the the Rockies...I might be willing to drive up for a match or 2 during the season but no names associated with Calgary please.
How bout the "Saddle siders" or the "Stubble jumper siders" ;-)
I'm in YYC
I'm in for meeting up at a bar for a few games. I was in Edmonton and should be there for 2013 Voyageurs Cup too.
wrongsiders +1
Cal-ciders? Cider? Good drink. Start every game with an apple cider :) East-siders (east of the Rockies), flat-siders, Bow-siders (Bow River),
I live here and would like to attend a few games away from my TV/PVR (work willing).
How about Cow-towners?
Calgarian + Southsiders = Calgariders?
This being Canadian football, I think "roughriders" is the only appropriate name
Anything to do with Calgary or cows and I'm out ahahah seriously tho I have a completely irrational hatred of that city.

or maybe just cows?

There's nothing irrational about hating Calgary.
Wow. I'm glad to see this boomed suddenly! I'll do that Brett. And we'll think of a name :)
Nothing to do with cows. While the city has its down sides it also is surprisingly good in a lot of ways.
The weather can suck royally. When Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same not much good to say but it gets more sun than you'd think (a full month more than places like Kelowna) and NO PST / HST (how is that working out for you folks in BC?) plus the legal drinking age is 18 (so you can sneek into bars younger).
comparing Alberta to BC, ha. You can keep your taxes.
Petrolsiders
Bowsiders...for the bow river comin thru town n southern alta or stampedesiders....
chinooksiders....
Maybe because they're on the lee side of the mountains where it doesnt rain, maybe they can be the Lee-siders, or the Dry-siders
