Bowen FC will have ~250 supporters/players (?) in the north end and would like to get involved.

I have two complaints, Isn' t there any way the Whitecaps can find some match time for Long Tan and Cumiento? They both seem to be good playmakers. Jordan Harvey is always panicking and turning the ball over in the backfield.

So, straight swap Long Tan in for Harvey, then.

Replace a defender for a striker or an attacking midfielder?

  • Yeah, get Long Tan and Chiumiento in for Jordan Harvey + Martin Bonjour.

Bonjour play has been solid. It's just Harvey that seems weak on defence and he constantly makes poor decisions on passes. Just how I see it.

---Camilo---Le Toux--- Salgado--------------------Harris -------Davidson---Koffie------ Rochat---DeMerit---Bonjour---Lee ----------Cannon----------- Subs: Tan, Hassli, Klazura, Mitchell, Thorrington, Chiumiento, Knighton

Hassli should come on around the 60th minute, with the two other subs coming on around 70th and 80th minute. One of the only things that ticks me off about Rennie (good manager) is he never fully takes advantages of his subs. He either uses 2 by the 80th minute, or gives them like 5-10 minutes to play. No impact off the bench if he keeps doing that.

The team needs to work on better chemistry and passing for the offence. Get crosses in with Salgado and create more chances at the top of the box. Dont get caught off guard during set pieces. Hassli needs to learn some tricks or fakes to get past the backline (like how he did it last year by rolling the ball with his right foot and shooting with power with left foot at the top of the box). Le Toux's work rate is phenomenal, but he needs to create more chances as well. Chiumiento needs to bring back his old self from the first half of last season, creating goal-scoring chances, through balls, and assisting more.

Other than that, the team is pretty tight and playing well. When are Barbara and Mattocks coming back? They could help with our offense problems.

Why do we need to play San Jose again, when there are other (weaker) teams in our conference that we haven't played yet?

I agree. Every time Harvey is involved in the play, it is a reason for concern, especially when he plays left back.

  • I doubt Harvey will play left back today. I think Thorrington and Rochat will come back in. We are a much better team with Rochat at left back than Harvey.

No more Harris please...I said it from day 1, it could be his injuries that slowed him down but he just can't do it.

TOTAL TEAM WIN! Forget the 3-2-1 for tonight's game, everyone and I mean every player who took to the field, starters and subs, ALL contributed and played their asses off! TOTAL TEAM WIN!

Great game from the caps. I can't believe how much falling the sj players did in the last 15 min

Did anyone else notice the time that Davidson had on the ball tonight? It was like San Jose didn't bother to forecheck him and relied on the forwards coming back. That didn't work as he had no problem finding passing lanes and completing pass after pass. Great game by all.

Yah, he really stood out tonight. I have to remember that San Jose are the best offensive team in the league. When SJ were doing well (for about 5min before their goal), we still shut them down through the middle and got blocks in. Other than that, Davidson and Koffie kept them quiet. Excellent work.

wow what a game. I still have so much adrenaline. I think that was the best game the whitecaps have played in their 2 years in MLS.

  • Brilliant second half. Narrowly edges the 3-3 comeback last season for the most entertaining half of football since we joined the MLS. A draw against San Jose would have been a good result, but I love that we weren't willing to settle for a draw. If we win Wednesday that will be 5 in a row.

My husband said the same thing. Was such a great match by the whole team. There were a few minutes at the beginning that were somewhat suspect, but the effort by the team after the SJ goal and in the entire 2nd half was amazing. Can't wait til next match!

I didn't realize that it this day May 5, 1974 that the Whitecaps played their first ever game and against the San Jose Earthquakes. I vaguely remember that game. Great win for the Caps tonight !

Most exciting game of the year so far.

Hassli is back, and he did tonight what he needs to do. Salgado had another great performance. His free kick which caused two SJ yellow cards shows that this kid is the real deal. Best performance by Koffie so far this season.

Everyone else had a good game, except Lee. Yes, he got beaten by Wando, but currently that's no rarity; it's his horrible positioning on the break by Chavez in the second half which alarms me. I'm sure the coaches will review it on video, and he won't have a brain-fart like that any time soon. SJ should have gone up 2-1 on that play.

To this point, the league hasn't seen a display or result from Whitecaps that has caused them to be worried. That all changes with this result against the Western Conference leaders. I knew we were a potential playoff team, but we have just announced to the league that we're not only a probable playoff team, but that were also a potential threat if/when we get there.
