A Cool Discovery
  • I'm not sure if this is the right area, move me if need be.

While dropping off items at a West Kelowna auction house, I happened to peruse some of their wares. Just before I left my eye snagged a dusty framed photograph in a pile. I noticed a football pitch and wondered what game it was. On closer inspection I realized it was BC Place, with the old roof. In fact it looked 70's or 80's. After some squinting at the details I worked out it was definitely the Whitecaps. I remarked to the auction guy that I supported the Caps, and he said I could take it as nobody bought it at auction. Awesome!

I could not make out who the other team was as the picture was from high up from a corner. I just saw a blue team and a white team. So I did some research and found out the opening BC Place game was against the Sounders, who wore blue back then! So I've deduced it must be that game. The stadiums upper and lower bowls are full and that game had 60,000!

Not bad for a freebie. I'll get a pic of it online tomorrow, I just moved house and have no computer to upload it. It's (almost) definitely an original print. I wonder if it has any value? Or how many of them are around? Anybody else got one lying around? I realise having no image uploaded is annoying but tomorrow I will, promise.

EDIT: Here's a link to the image on my twitter http://t.co/bq9LpK66
