I would like to get some predictions on when he is sacked, or ends up quitting.

I think he may not last the season.....

    Moved to MLS

Either he'll be sacked or "resign" at the end of season when TFC fail to make playoffs

I think this thread should be predictions on how many more coaches TFC go through before they make the playoffs.

He will go in one way or the other after Montreal knock them out of the Voyageurs Cup (or us, if they get to the final).

Can we try and get the hashtag #WinterIsGoing trending on Twitter? Been ploughing basically a lone furrow with this one and it's already annoying some TFC fans, so imagine when we all use it!! :P

Winter's 'Total Football' is a three year plan apparently, I hope he gets his full three years and then some!

Winter's won't be fired - they're leading the "most Canadians on the first team" race. They should feel very proud of the development of Terry Dunfield, JDG, and Adrian Caan...they are clearly the superior team in terms of developing Canadians - Fire Winters?? Crazy!

THat sounds like fun but, as Caps suppporters, shouldn't we be starting a campaign for TFC to keep Winter in charge? Serious comic potential.

Can we do a special version of Walking In A Winter Wonderland if we play them in the cup?

Fire him? Are you crazy? He is the best thing for soccer in Montreal and Vancouver! A first year expansion team with TFC on their schedule how many times? Bloody heaven for the Impact.

Besides they are about to set a new MLS record. One more loss and they tie the existing record. One more after that and they are proud owners of a new low in MLS. 0-8-0 is within their grasp. I know they can do it!

^ I think that is the tipping point. Break the record for worst start to the season and MLSE will start looking elsewhere. Maybe they'll hire Soehn!

Not implying which side means he can come back and replace Rennie, no thank you to that.

they have RSL away tomorrow and then DC Utd at home the week after, I fancy DeRo to bang in the winner and give them the record! haha

He has lost the room. A guy with his alleged skills should not lose the room, it is a disgrace; I really think he will quit before he is fired. That is my impression. Either way, he will be gone sometime in 2012.

I love seeing TFC implode like this. I hope Montreal hands them their ass in the Canadian Championship.

I don't think a manager can quit mid-season. The optics of it would be absolutely terrible. You're essentially saying to future employers "when the going gets tough, I get the fuck out."

Well, he will look worse if he stays and they get the worst record in history of MLS. He may want to cut his losses. He can easily blame it on MLSE when applying for new jobs.

Would he, though? Two of the Canucks current coaches oversaw the Senators having one of the worst records in NHL history. Soehn tanked DC. Winter can blame it on MLSE whether or not he stays, but if he bails, I think that looks worse than trying to fight through it.

Shit stinks in TO. Ekersley snubs Winter on substitution. That ship is sinking fast. As much as I want to see TFC die a slow death this season, a result for them vs rsl, a western rival, would be nice.

I'd like too see Aron Winter at the Bridge of Death in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Old Man from scene 24: What is you name?

Aron Winter: I am Aron Winter from Toronto FC

Old Man from scene 24: What is your quest?

Aron Winter: I seek the holy MLS Grail.

Old Man from scene 24: Will TFC make the playoffs?

    Aron Winter: Yes. Wait....Aaaaaahhhhhh

To be honest, I don't know why TFC ever signed Winter, who was never more than an assistant coach of a junior side - albeit Ajax.

He was a great player (one of my faves back way) and he's a good guy to boot - but this was a high risk gamble from day one and frankly a stupid move by the TFC FO.

Rennie is an experienced journeyman compared to Winter.

Proud holders of the all time shittiest start to an MLS season. How long can they keep it up? How low can they go, how low can they go?

  • 0-0-10 would be fantastic. Sadly, their 10th league match will be at home against almost-equally-woeful Philadelphia.

They hit the crazy 8. Will getting knocked out of the Canadian championship be the final straw...will have to see how the 9th goes.

I think a loss to Montreal on Wednesday has to be the end. I'd be baying for his blood at that point if I was a TFC supporter.

As a Caps fan though, I hope Montreal win so that we can host the second leg of the final and I get to run a little something I've prepared on Wednesday night :)

They said on the post-game show tonight that we were getting the finals either way. Because of travel, I think.

Yes, it's unreal how he has a job. Read some of the post-game comments from the players. What a terrible organization and Peter Schaad called it at the start of the season.

  • OldFanOldFan
    Posts: 3,409

Did anyone read Johnson's comments. He was openly ripping the tactics. Even Tommy Soehn didn't have players so openly ripping his shitty tactics.

Winter has truly lost the players; I don't see any other option, after the hopeful loss to Montreal, than for him to leave.

As a former Hamiltonian I've always felt antagonistic towards Toronto but as a Canadian and a soccer fan, I'd like to see them succeed. (As long as they're in the east anyway)

But seriously...what the fuck is wrong with that team? they have not since their beginning established any organization, cohesion, chemistry, consistency, or direction....(no wonder so may players (like DeRo) seem more than happy to leave. They seem like a bunch of amateurs who, whenever the going gets tough, give up and trade or sell or release people arbitrarily. They should be several years ahead of Whitecaps in term of MLS status, instead, they're starting from scratch every year. I wonder what Carl Robinson would have to say about playing for TFC...
