    Interesting, possibly unrelated, update from a company called Soccer in Motion. "SiM President Ron Wallace is traveling to Vancouver tomorrow. Has meetings with a well know soccer club in Vancouver. After that its off to Calgary"

    They appear to be a video database meant to connect players with recruiters.

    Well that is a let down. All this hype for a jersey that someone in our own FO said is ugly.

    He didn't say it was ugly, just that some would love it and some would hate it. That's true of every kit, really.

    I hope the alternates gets delayed. I promised myself I'd get the 3rd jersey no matter what instead of owning the current home and away jerseys. I'm a bit worried now...

    Oh no. I think many people will really start protesting if I go on my Handbang rant.

    But, I will calmly summarize. Weber went down the Portland with some guys. They made up a name for them, The Handbags. The article was written to make it look like Weber went down with a supporters group and had the "supporters experience". The Handbags was a fabrication and just used for the story. I personally felt it was misleading and poor journalism.

    Mallett is the face of the owners. He is at every event that you would expect ownership to be represented. Be it a big signing, sponsorship or staff change. I wouldn't read too much into him being there.

    The whitecaps have found a loop-hope in the MLS salary cap and have signed Xavi and Iniesta to bolster thier midfield options.

    In return Barca get the 'Caps 2013 pick in the MLS supplimental draft.

    "Strategic" is code for something on the corporate or sponsorship side, so it's probably going to be something boring. A new corporate sponsor, most likely. Could be an addition to the ownership group. Important, but ultimately of little actual interest in the grand scheme of things.

    Now, what would actually be interesting / exciting would be any of the following:

    1. Training facility progress / announcement.
    2. Partnership with CSA and/or BCSA for the above.
    3. Partnership with an NASL or USL Pro team for player loans and/or development.
    4. Partnership with a club in Europe for player loans and/or development.
    5. Actually paying wages to the womens team and professionalising them, and/or basing them at Swangard and marketing them to achieve the sort of 4,000 person crowd the Sounders women got the other day at Starfire for an exhibition game against a university team.
    6. Something about a new stadium (definitely NOT going to happen).
    7. Some awesome DP (which wouldn't be called "strategic", so also not happening today).

    I'm sure it's huge to the guys in the front office, such as the ones who put out press release and talk to reporters about the hugeness of the announcement. To them it's probably very, very huge.
