Interesting, possibly unrelated, update from a company called Soccer in Motion. "SiM President Ron Wallace is traveling to Vancouver tomorrow. Has meetings with a well know soccer club in Vancouver. After that its off to Calgary"
They appear to be a video database meant to connect players with recruiters.

Just saw this on the twitter:
Soccer in Motion: SiM President Ron Wallace is traveling to Vancouver tomorrow. Has meetings with a well know soccer club
This is their descriptor:
Soccer in Motion through its web site promotes young elite soccer players videos and biographies that can be used by recruiters to evaluate players
This is their President:

"Strategic announcement." Translation: "Our strategy for getting the waterfront stadium built didn't pan out the first time around, so we're going to try again by strategically bribing the ever-lovin' hell out of city council just like all the other developers do."
World Soccer Shop's Tweet:
A big kit launch is coming tomorrow morning! Any guesses which club it is?
The Whitecaps sure are doing a good job in hyping this one up......
Well that is a let down. All this hype for a jersey that someone in our own FO said is ugly.
PBandG said: Well that is a let down. All this hype for a jersey that someone in our own FO said is ugly.
He didn't say it was ugly, just that some would love it and some would hate it. That's true of every kit, really.
GoF said: Maybe Mallet has bought out Kerfoot or someone else has.
OHHHHH.... now that is a juicy one!
I hope the alternates gets delayed. I promised myself I'd get the 3rd jersey no matter what instead of owning the current home and away jerseys. I'm a bit worried now...

Brenton said: Weber said not a training centre.
Well, since he is the epicenter of accurate journalism; then it can not be the training center!
Just to clarify; your issue with Weber revolves around the Handbags article, correct?
And unless someone's breaking a contract, it can't be a new sponsor. Wasn't Bell 3 years?
What was the handbags article andthe issue around it?
Oh no. I think many people will really start protesting if I go on my Handbang rant.
But, I will calmly summarize. Weber went down the Portland with some guys. They made up a name for them, The Handbags. The article was written to make it look like Weber went down with a supporters group and had the "supporters experience". The Handbags was a fabrication and just used for the story. I personally felt it was misleading and poor journalism.
That kit launch is Chelsea's new kit. Still think it's the training centre.
Chelsea's new kit not available till May 10th. Cannot wait.

Weber said it isn't. I hope it is the training centre just so he looks bad :)
any chance of a strategic friendly ?
Mallett is the face of the owners. He is at every event that you would expect ownership to be represented. Be it a big signing, sponsorship or staff change. I wouldn't read too much into him being there.
But probably not an announcement of a friendly.
Do you think Duze would comment on this RUMMOR if we emailed him?

In case anyone's forgotten the link ...
Some lovely music on there right now, and live video of the conference being set up. No shots of Lord_Bob raiding the muffin table
Camera guy is having the time of his life
Who's music are they playing?
Tyler Green - According to sources within the #WhitecapsFC organization, the announcement today is "HUGE"
28 minutes to go!
They have signed ali gerba?
It won't be THAT huge, come on Brett
The whitecaps have found a loop-hope in the MLS salary cap and have signed Xavi and Iniesta to bolster thier midfield options.
In return Barca get the 'Caps 2013 pick in the MLS supplimental draft.
I was gonna say ... I'd need to buy an extra smoker for all the pulled pork we'd need
Who do we know at the presser? That ball is aligned just a little too perfectly. Someone throw a pen or something.

Sadly, Lord_Bob is raiding the coffee maker at his office this morning. I have to watch the live stream with the peasants.
"Strategic" is code for something on the corporate or sponsorship side, so it's probably going to be something boring. A new corporate sponsor, most likely. Could be an addition to the ownership group. Important, but ultimately of little actual interest in the grand scheme of things.
Now, what would actually be interesting / exciting would be any of the following:
Maybe they should have updated their site for the "HUGE" announcement:
Watch the live media conference introducing former South Korean international defender and newest Vancouver Whitecaps FC player Young-Pyo Lee. The media conference will begin at 10:30 a.m. PT.
News1130 Sports Twitter:
"Whitecaps will announce a major front office hiring with provincial ties. Not a former Whitecap."

OH MY GOD! THIS IS HUGE! AND MAJOR!

Is he related to Lee Young-Pyo?

This is going to be huge? Doubt it.
David Hahn?
I'm sure it's huge to the guys in the front office, such as the ones who put out press release and talk to reporters about the hugeness of the announcement. To them it's probably very, very huge.
Christy Clark to resign from Premier and become Caps new PR person.
Sir Bobby Robson Post posthumously?
Paul Chapman pondering John Furlong.
Lenarduzzi to join BC Liberals
What's up with the match ball from last season?
Chris said: Paul Chapman pondering John Furlong.
That's where I was going. That WOULD be huge.
Just don't put him in charge of lowering torches at opening ceremonies and that would be a big one.
CKNW Twitter:
John Furlong named executive chair of the Vancouver Whitecaps, effective immediately.
Ahem. /Checks watch
What is this music? Why can't they use that great tune from MLS Live?!
CKNW is reporting that it is John Furlong.

Great in terms of leadership...very risky on the hydraulics front.
