What do you reckon are the chances of the three teams having embroidery or Cascadia patches on their shirts for those games? That would be awesome and really emphasize that this is a cup that is important to the fans and the clubs involved.
I think it would be great, but it isn't going to happen. It just isn't

ah, well, just a thought. I would have thought any opportunity to sell us more merch (whitecaps jersey, cascadia edition only $139), would be seen as a good thing... :)
Great idea, Rob.
a patch is probably pie in the sky, but sommat like this:

surely is not that expensive for them to implement?
Issue is that those are for cup finals, whereas Cascadia Cup matches are all round-robin matches.
true, they do it for international matches as well i believe?
I sent it in as a suggestion anyway, can only put it out there, see what comes back.
I like the idea, but not sure if the club would be willing to pay for six batches of kits to be custom-embroidered, each for only a single match.
It would be worth doing if the club were to sell all of the shirts to fans.... especially if part/all of the money went to a Whitecaps charity.
18 players per match, times 6 matches, equals 108 shirts. Do you think the club could sell 108 match-worn shirts every season?
Or... should they just use one shirt for all six matches, which just read "2012 Cascadia Cup"?
i think 1 shirt for all 6 then auctioned off would be a great way to do it!
I guess for home and away they need 2...especially when Portland and Seattle play each other but I really like the idea - something special :)
Right, so 36 customized kits.
sounds good. I mean even at retail, they'd fetch a decent chunk of charity money, but game-worn special jerseys, inevitably autographed would fetch a handsome amount.
Retail doesn't really work as the ones that don't sell are wasted stock and I really doubt that they think that they would sell that many extras.
Even 36 for charity is a stretch.
The Whitecaps could probably wear their primary white for home and away Cascadia Cup matches... meaning just 18 embroidered/patched kits would be required.
I think they can produce some official cascadia patches for fans to crest/heat/print them on - like the Stanley Cup Final ones. I got this on my NYRB jersey: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_FfJoj-cP5cI/S2YV0H4jLNI/AAAAAAAAAE0/FfUCSaurtt0/l3IgYRe9[8].jpg
Yeah maybe something like that would be possible? Or could we as a group sponsor the patches?
Sorry, what website is that?
It likely wouldn't be allowed by MLS unless all clubs really pushed for it.
Thanks for spamming...goodbye
