Anyone else get the Season Ticket Survey? I'm just working through it now. Good to see there are many write in sections. Please be polite in these sections so they actually listen to your input.

    Yes

And, some questions you had to answer even if you didn't have one to give (such as what extra language you want).

Very amateur survey system. I blame it on Barber :)

    Blank question on Q10.

Meanwhile what other Languages would I like to listen to, is mandatory so "Nisga’a' gets my vote. I encourage everyone to do the same with what news paper

  • Q8 should allow for "N/A" answers. I've never bought food or drinks at BC Place, nor will I.

Q39 demands that you pick one other sports team that you attend matches at... even if you fill out the "other" write-in bit.

I don;t think anyone proofread the survey before sending it out.

I also wish it had more options as to where I get Whitecaps news. Or even a write in like every other section.

I after twitter, I get most of my news here, and then CSN, Bigsoccer (although reading any thread beyond page 2 causes brain damage), and 86forever.

    Terrible survey.

One of my critiques at the end was "your survey sucks" for the reasons mentioned above.

If they had listed Eighty Six Forever as a new source option I'd have felt pity, since I get all my news from the Province.

It is things like this survey that remind me that the person who is managing this process is not good enough.

I would not say he designed it. But he did foster a culture where he either micro managed it or things were allowed to be sloppy.

Guys, its a survey like any other for the purposes of creating or acquiring a marketing budjet for the next year.

It really has nothing to do with your (the fans) particular likes or dislikes.

Take it as it is, a gauge of what they will keep, cut or ad to the the Marketing budget next season.

Yeah, but they could have at least proof read it before sending it out with so many flaws. It just looks bush league.

I checked Vancouver Canadians because it's the only one I'd be able to afford. I go to the occasional Tacoma Rainiers game; close enough. :-P

And yes, there were a lot of them that should have had N/A as an option. Like SAFC_Yank, I don't live in any city/municipality of BC and it wouldn't take Orting, WA under "other." (Although I hate putting that anyway because the survey is no longer anonymous at that point, as I'm pretty sure I'm the only STH they have from Orting.) So I'm now (un)officially a resident of Vancouver- woot!

Same - made it clear that I'm not a SS but basically said that the SS atmosphere is the best thing they got going for them so let the SS do their thing.

  • Sadly, the fact that they cannot even create a simple, error-free fan survey does not give me hope that the FO can build a winning organization.

Yes an unedited survey is exactly why they will never win games, along with the occasional typo in the game-day program.

I hear Tom Soehn paid a Gambian kid $500,000 to proof-read that survey.

An organization's culture needs to be clear in EVERYTHING they do. Strive for perfection and take pride in every aspect of fan/customer/supporter interaction.

No, an unedited survey is not directly linked to winning games. However, a careless, not-detail oriented culture where things can go to production without verification is...

You realize the micro-management you are asking for? This is not a top-brass issue, and shouldn't be.

Come on people it is the week before Christmas. If they are anything like me they have been working hungover every morning and with a beer in hand every afternoon. It's lucky they even got this out before Jan 15th :p

Absolutely it shouldn't, but neither should it be just one person. There should be a culture where details are important and mistakes are detected and corrected prior to the public seeing the project. The CEO shouldn't necessarily be looking at something like this, but somebody ought to proofread it.

This I agree with. However this is the first survey they have sent out. If they are consistently sending out glitch ridden surveys I will concur. Considering all the crap that's gone on this year I think some people are being a little to hyper sensitive to the minutiae of running this organization.

  • Is it a link that can be posted? If so can someone please post it here for non Season Ticket Holders?

It's a second buggy survey now. But putting out surveys does take some time so I can see how one with that many questions could have some bugs. At least the bugs aren't with 'important' questions :)

And being a STH has its privileges ;)

    2nd survey?

There was a survey earlier in the season, but I thought that was an MLS survey not a Whitecaps one, and I don't recall it being 'buggy'.

  • The MLS survey was written as if we were Toronto FC supporters. That's beyond "buggy".

Company culture comes from the "top brass". The morale under Barber has got so bad that things like this happen. People don't care as much as they used to. This survey is constructed and sent out by someone who is "phoning" it in (to use a sports cliche). I think you will find things like this will improve as the organizational morale and passion returns. Paul sucked the life out of a lot of employees and stripped the office of passion.

What this does lead you to question is the overall professionalism of the front office and if it is still being staffed by people with minor league (D2) mentality and qualifications or perhaps they are simply understaffed with too many people being asked to do either too much or tasked with things that aren't suitable for their experience. Perhaps in addition to improving the quality of players, the team needs to look at improvements its off-field operations.

I just completed the survey today. Hopefully many southside members and season ticket holders will complete the survey to maintain and/or improve the Whitecaps product.

I was very brief and to the point when it came to the written questions.

Under the merchandise question, I asked for a third kit. I also asked for a real grass pitch.

These things will probably never happen, but its a survey and they asked for ticket holders to fill it out, so I did.

Cheaper beer (won't happen, that's BC Place's deal), and making 'keeper kits available for sale. Doesn't take much to keep this guy happy.

Other than the errors noted above, of course. Some parts of it made me cringe (wee bit OCD like that).
