Maybe he was staying fresh for Saturday? Just saying I prefer a play maker as a 10 as opposed to Mattocks.
That video shows Le Toux clearly onside for his goal.

Dede looked offside to me.
So Harvey changed to #3?
Oh, and I think fourfourtwo was asking about tactics.
I think it's hard not to like the tactics. Rennie has the team playing exactly the way he suggested they would play. Putting constant pressure on the ball with a 4-4-2 and quickly moving to a 4-3-3 in attack. There was talk of a 4-5-1 in defense, but for the most part two of the strikers have stayed sort of staggered up top. So it's kind of a 4-4.5-1.5 if that makes any sense. :-/
I like it ALOT.

Me too.
Im a little concerned about how much time Hassli and Le Toux have played together. I would think they need to start logging some serious minutes together to start building more chemistry so this "french connection" comes to life.
One thing I have really liked is how when the opposition gets the ball into the midfield our forwards squeeze them from behind. When the inevitable turnovers come, the team is compact and the midfielders have plenty of options to distribute to.

Dede looked offside to me.
Working the pause/play button, he looks about half a yard onside the nearest defender and a yard onside the deepest defender when Nanchoff strikes the ball.

Who sits, then? Our reigning MVP, or our DP?

Yep, its a bit difficult to judge at this angle but you can see the linesman is right where he should be as the ball is being played in by Nanchoff, great timing.

None of them. Starting lineup will include Hassli and Le Toux up front. Camilo out wide.

I did the same and it's pretty close but I am with you. Obviously not the best angle though.
Wow. Tempering the enthusiasm is getting difficult.
Formation-wise all is unfolding nicely, with a very good use of our players. After these games I'm a lot less concerned about our midfield than I thought I would be.
It would be possible to play Hassli-Camilo one game, Hassli-LeToux the next, and LeToux-Camilo in the third. What's going to emerge is that Hassli will have to work hard in training, or score regularly, to keep LeToux out of the starting XI.
I'm interested in seeing who gets the call for the Voyageurs Cup games. I won't be surprised if our entire Second XI gets those games (Knighton; Harvey, Boxall, Mitchell, Klazura; whichever midfielders haven't played for a week; Le Toux and Tan). This line-up will not only pulverise FC Edmonton, it will probably beat Toronto or Montreal based on what we've seen it do to Houston and Kansas. This will allow us to pursue MLS at full throttle even around the 4 weeks we contest the Voyageurs Cup, and on the weeks when we have 2 x MLS games in a week. This is the beauty of having a deep line-up. Rennie now has what every manager dreams of: selection problems based on the fact that his Second XI are ACTUALLY almost as good as his First XI.
Toronto is up 2-0 on Dallas. It looks like we'll get to play Toronto in the "final" of this pre-season tournament.
Suddenly, winning a pre-season game becomes important . . . this turns into a meaningful game in terms of what it sets up for the Voyageurs Cup later this year, aside from the obvious desire to see Vancouver beat Toronto. Play the First XI, Mr Rennie.
This result also sets up a Dallas - Houston consolation final.

....and if for some reason we don't win I can see the TFC fans and media planning the MLS cup parade route since the VWFC are the talk of the league in MLS pre season right now.
There's no surer way to get a Toronto FC fan to drop the "pre-season doesn't matter" schtick than for Toronto FC to win in pre-season.
If I was forced to only pick one between Le Toux and Hassli right now, it would have to be Le Toux.
Eric needs to get off to a flyer to keep his place in the starting line up I think.
Seb is way more of a leader. He's been very vocal on the pitch these last two games.

Yeah, I wouldn't disagree. Carl Robinson made a comment today on WFC Daily that suggested Hassli isn't where they think he can get to yet. A cynic might suggest that is a subtle, early hint.

I was thinking the same thing watching these pre-season games. Eric needs a fast start or he's going to end up on the bench.
Wonder what kind of line up TFC is going to throw out. Most likely a bunch of second squad guys but they did sub out all their first team guys today pretty early on so they could possibly play half of the match on Saturday.
It's a shame that we aren't going to be able to watch the final. ESPN 3 has the rights and won't lift it in Canada. Caps figure something out fast!!!!
You know, I got to tell you, please quote me at the end of t he season.
Eric will not score many goals other than penalties. He may not even hit 10 this year.
I won't disagree with that for no other reasons than a) he's not an unknown entity in the league any more, and b) the squad is much deeper in this position over last year.
If we have 3 10+ goal scorers this year I'll be pleased.
I would hope so, considering no team had 3 last season.
I think honestly with our depth, We'll have 1 player at 10+ and two or so in the 7-9 range and likely another few in the 3-5 range. That's my guess
He only had, what, 6 from open play last year? Le Toux will snag some of those penalties, if not all.
Bring on Toronto!
I doubt they'll play their strongest team having a Champions League game with LA 4 days later. We should be able to add some preseason silverware to our cabinet on Saturday.
But will the added threat of Le Toux take away one of the ~3 defenders Hassli had surrounding him whenever he would get the ball.
Surely, yes.
Of course if that fails there is always the option of...

@LukeWileman: Toronto FC's first team players will leave Orlando on Friday to prepare for Champions League game and not stay for Disney final v Whitecaps
Obviously scared.
RPB's have a built in excuse. Let the flaming begin!
Let's blow them out. From a club who's "greatest victory" came against a d2 squad's B team, they should have no reason to gloat.
Love how they're all honky dory last year saying they are better than us, underestimate us during this preseason campaign, then conveniently have their Champions League game midweek. We'll see what happens during the season, Toronto fans. ;)

You know, I get minus two for this.
Think about it. We have Le Toux who works harder and will probably score more goals. We have a spread out offence and it is not focused on one man like we had last year. Le Toux may even get some of the penalties that will lower Eric's totals. Camilo will still pop a few this year.
I think it is asking a lot to have three guys break 10... so I am thinking Le Toux will be the one and maybe Camilo.....
And, I am a bit skeptical of Eric because he did go the last 2 and a half months last year with nothing; and I have not seen him on the score sheet yet in pre season.
I am not unreasonable to think he won't make 10.
He scored the first one against Montreal. Assist to Bonjour, I think?
Chris said: He scored the first one against Montreal. Assist to Bonjour, I think?
Ah I missed that one then. I don't think it is a bad thing if he doesn't hit 10. That just means our scoring is more balanced which is a very good thing.
If Eric Hassli has scored 10 goals this year, we can probably consider it a successful season. 10 goals is a pretty good amount.
Eric loves to hold the ball with his back to goal and touch the ball off to a oncoming player in space. With LeToux's agressiveness in the final third, I wouldn't be suprised to see those two with a lot of cheeky one twos, dummies, and little volleys to each other in close.
If Eric scores 8 and has another 6 assists, I'll consider it a very successful year for the big man.
Also, he hasn't played much in preseason. Likely, Rennie knows what he's got in Hassli, so doesn't need to 'see him perform' in the preseason.
Having seen the game against KC, and read about Long Tan's great play earlier in the tournament, I can't see how he doesn't make the game day 18. He may not score all the time, but his movement is good and he makes those around him better.
We have great options for subs: Tan, Teibert, Nanchoff, etc.
Given how few players hit 10 goals every year, predicting any of our guys won't hit 10, isn't really much of a stretch.
Chris said: He scored the first one against Montreal. Assist to Bonjour, I think?
Here here. That was the goal I'd been waiting for. Yes it's only pre season but you can see what its doing for moral.
Are the finals going to be televised/streamed anywhere?
I have asked the club, will let everyone know when I hear back.
