Jeff Kassouf of NBC Sports is reporting that today's CWNT roster announcement for the June friendly against the US will include 22-year-old American fullback Rachel Quon.

Quon has represented the USA at every youth international level. If the report is accurate, this would likely be the first case of a player with legitimate prospects in her native country's national program choosing to play for a lower-ranked Canada.

Canada qualified yesterday with a 4-2 win over Jamaica. Goals from Hanson Boakai, Andrew Gordon (2) and Jordan Hamilton.

Other CONCACAF teams qualifying were Panama, Mexico and Honduras - leaving one country notably absent.

Currently preparing for the final of the Cyprus Cup, where they’ll face France on Tuesday, Canadian coach John Herdman said his side will be heading back to the West Coast in April to live, train and play together in a residency camp as part of their final preparations for the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Honduras part deux so far, the quality gap is painful. Tiebert the only Whitecap playing, mostly getting overrun in midfield but also had a not bad header. Henry and Attakora are awful.

Canada (60) to take on Denmark (22) in a friendly in Tucson Arizona in January.

Canada will begin its 2013 season with a Men’s International Friendly against Denmark on 27 January (local kick-off 13.00) at the Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tucson, AZ.

The match will commence the Canadian team’s preparations for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup to be hosted in USA from 7-28 July.

In 2012, Canada posted a record of four wins, two draws and three losses in nine international matches. Denmark’s record was two wins, three draws and six losses in 11 international matches. The last international match between Canada and Denmark was in 1995.

Both the coaching staff and player roster for the match will be announced at a later date.

Canada will announce its preliminary roster for the June matches for the Men's National Team on Thursday 17 May. Players on the roster will be eligible to compete in the Centennial celebration match against USA on 3 June at BMO Field in Toronto and the two FIFA World Cup Qualifiers™ later in the month: 8 June against Cuba (Havanna, Cuba) and 12 June against Honduras at BMO Field in Toronto.

The roster will be released via an exclusive video at YouTube.com/CanadaSoccerTV at 10.00 ET / 07.00 PT on Thursday 17 May. Men's National Team Head Coach Stephen Hart will then be made available to the media via a national conference call at 13.00 ET / 10.00 PT to discuss his selections.

I started this thread because this kind of goes outside the normal roster announcement protocol.

I'm thinking one of three things.

Because its the centennial celebratory match followed by Qualifiers
Put faces to names of the current roster for the fans and the like to connect
Major player announcement ie. JDG2 or Junior

Christine Sinclair is not among the three finalists for the Ballon d'Or. Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan and Marta all got nods.

Jon Herdman was also not nominated for coach of the year, losing out to the coaches of the US, Japan and France.

This is possibly not the best time to ask this question, on the back of a hammering, but I'm wanting to work on an article about where Whitecaps fans priorities lie.

For Canadians, who do you want to win most and why? The Caps or Canada? (you can't say both are equal!).

For non Canadians, how do you prioritise the following and why? - The Caps, your team back home, your home country, Canada.

Basically, what matters the most to you and what makes you feel that way? Which one gets you the highest and lowest? What could change how you feel? Anything?

I'll keep this going till say midnight on Thursday and then pull together comments here, on Facebook, Twitter etc and do a piece on AFTN.
